Your Duluth Forge fireplace system can be operated using the included remote control or via manual controls on the unit.

Remote Control Operation:

  • Insert the provided AAA batteries into the remote control.

Manual Operation: For manual ignition, refer to the controls located on the fireplace insert. This typically involves turning a gas knob to the 'Pilot' position, pressing it in, and using the Piezo ignitor button until the pilot light ignites. Once the pilot is lit, you can turn the knob to the 'On' position to ignite the main burner.

First Use: During initial startup, it may take a few minutes for the pilot light to ignite due to air in the gas lines. This is normal. If the pilot does not light after several attempts, consult the troubleshooting section.

6. Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and safe operation of your fireplace system.

  • Cleaning: Periodically clean the exterior of the mantel with a soft, damp cloth. Avoid abrasive cleaners.
  • Log Inspection: Inspect the ceramic logs for any damage or displacement. Ensure they are correctly positioned as per the assembly guide.
  • Burner Area: Keep the burner area free from dust, lint, and debris. Use a vacuum cleaner with a soft brush attachment if necessary.
  • Professional Inspection: It is recommended to have the gas connections and burner system inspected annually by a qualified service technician.

7. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your fireplace system, refer to the following common troubleshooting steps:

  • No Ignition: Check if the gas supply is on. Ensure batteries in the remote and receiver are fresh. Verify the pilot light is clean and unobstructed.
  • Pilot Light Goes Out: This could indicate an issue with the ODS sensor or insufficient oxygen. Ensure the room is adequately ventilated. If the problem persists, contact a qualified technician.
  • Inconsistent Heating: Check the remote control's temperature settings. Ensure the fireplace is not obstructed.
  • Unusual Odor: If you detect a gas odor, immediately shut off the gas supply and ventilate the area. Do not operate the appliance. Contact your gas supplier or a qualified technician.

For complex issues, always consult a qualified service professional.
