1. Important Safeguards
When using electrical appliances, basic safety precautions should always be followed to reduce the risk of fire, electric shock, and/or injury to persons, including the following:

3. Setup
- Unpack: Carefully remove all packaging materials and promotional labels from the grill.
- Initial Cleaning: Before first use, wipe the exterior of the grill with a damp cloth. Wash the removable cooking plates and drip tray in warm, soapy water, then rinse and dry thoroughly.
- Install Plates: Ensure the cooking plates are securely clicked into place on both the upper and lower heating elements. The grill comes with two sets of plates: ribbed grill plates and flat griddle plates. Choose the appropriate set for your cooking needs.
- Insert Drip Tray: Slide the drip tray into its designated slot at the front or side of the grill base. Ensure it is fully inserted to catch any drippings during cooking.
- Placement: Place the grill on a stable, heat-resistant, and flat surface, away from walls or cabinets to allow for proper ventilation.
4. Operating Instructions
4.1 Preheating
- Plug the power cord into a standard electrical outlet. The LCD screen will illuminate.
- Turn the temperature control dial to your desired cooking temperature. The LCD will display the set temperature and the current temperature.
- Allow the grill to preheat with the lid closed. The 'READY TO COOK' indicator will illuminate on the LCD screen once the set temperature is reached. This typically takes 5-10 minutes depending on the selected temperature.
4.2 Grilling and Griddling
The Calphalon Even Sear Multi-Grill can be used in two primary configurations:
- Contact Grilling: For cooking items like sandwiches, burgers, or chicken breasts. Place food on the lower plate and close the lid. The adjustable floating hinge will accommodate different food thicknesses.
- Open Grilling/Griddling: For cooking larger quantities or items that require more space, such as pancakes, eggs, or multiple steaks. Open the grill fully to a 180-degree flat position. This provides two separate cooking surfaces.

4.3 Temperature Control
Use the temperature dial to select the desired cooking temperature, ranging from LOW to 450°F (approximately 232°C). The LCD screen provides a clear display of the current and target temperatures.
4.4 Timer Function
The integrated timer allows you to set cooking durations. Use the '+' and '-' buttons to adjust the time. The timer will count down on the LCD screen. An audible alert will sound when the timer expires.
5. Care and Cleaning
Proper care and cleaning will ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your Calphalon Even Sear Multi-Grill.
- Unplug and Cool: Always unplug the grill from the power outlet and allow it to cool completely before cleaning.
- Remove Plates: Press the plate release buttons (located on the side of the unit) to detach the cooking plates.
- Clean Cooking Plates: Wash the ceramic cooking plates by hand in warm, soapy water. Use a non-abrasive sponge or cloth. Rinse thoroughly and dry completely before reattaching or storing. Do not use metal scouring pads or harsh abrasive cleaners, as these can damage the ceramic surface.
- Clean Drip Tray: Remove the drip tray and empty its contents. Wash it in warm, soapy water, rinse, and dry.
- Clean Exterior: Wipe the exterior of the grill base with a damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or immerse the main unit in water.
- Storage: Ensure all parts are clean and dry before storing the grill. Store in a cool, dry place.

6. Troubleshooting
