1. Introduction

The Singular Sound BeatBuddy MINI 2 is a compact, hands-free drum machine designed as a guitar effect pedal. It provides realistic drum beats, fills, transitions, and intros/outros, allowing musicians to practice, compose, and perform with a full band sound. This manual provides detailed instructions for setting up, operating, and maintaining your BeatBuddy MINI 2.

2. Safety Information

Please read and understand the following safety precautions before using your BeatBuddy MINI 2:

• Power Supply: Use only a 9V DC power supply with a center-negative polarity. Using an incorrect power supply can damage the unit and void the warranty.

5. Setup

Follow these steps to set up your BeatBuddy MINI 2:

1. Power Connection: Connect a 9V DC center-negative power adapter to the DC IN jack on the BeatBuddy MINI 2. Plug the adapter into a power outlet.
2. Audio Input: If you are using an instrument or another pedal before the BeatBuddy MINI 2, connect its output to the INPUT jack on the BeatBuddy MINI 2 using a 1/4" instrument cable.
3. Audio Output: Connect the OUTPUT jack of the BeatBuddy MINI 2 to your amplifier, mixer, or the next pedal in your signal chain using a 1/4" instrument cable.
4. Optional Footswitch: If you have an optional external footswitch, connect it to the FOOTSWITCH jack. Refer to the external footswitch's manual for specific functions.
5. Power On: The BeatBuddy MINI 2 will power on automatically once connected to power. The display screen will illuminate.

6. Operating Instructions

6.1 Basic Operation

• Start Beat: Press the Main Footswitch once to start the beat. An intro will play if enabled.
• Add Drum Fill: While the beat is playing, press the Main Footswitch once to add a drum fill.
• Transition: While the beat is playing, press and hold the Main Footswitch to initiate a transition to the next song part. Release the footswitch to complete the transition.
• Stop Beat: To stop the beat, press the Main Footswitch twice quickly (double-tap). An outro will play if enabled.

6.2 Selecting Genres and Songs

1. Enter Selection Mode: Press the GENRE/SONG/TEMPO knob. The display will show "GENRE" and the current genre name.
2. Select Genre: Rotate the GENRE/SONG/TEMPO knob to scroll through available genres.
3. Select Song: Press the GENRE/SONG/TEMPO knob again. The display will show "SONG" and the current song name. Rotate the knob to scroll through songs within the selected genre.
4. Exit Selection Mode: Press the GENRE/SONG/TEMPO knob a third time to return to tempo adjustment, or simply wait a few seconds for the display to revert to the main screen.

6.3 Adjusting Tempo

1. Enter Tempo Mode: Press the GENRE/SONG/TEMPO knob until "TEMPO" is displayed.
2. Adjust Tempo: Rotate the GENRE/SONG/TEMPO knob to increase or decrease the beats per minute (BPM).
3. Tap Tempo: Alternatively, you can tap the Main Footswitch multiple times (at least twice) before starting a beat to set the tempo. The BeatBuddy MINI 2 will average your taps to determine the tempo.

6.4 Adjusting Volume

Rotate the VOLUME knob clockwise to increase the drum volume and counter-clockwise to decrease it. Adjust to a comfortable listening level.

• Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the exterior of the BeatBuddy MINI 2. Do not use abrasive cleaners, solvents, or waxes.
