Setup

  1. Download the Kasa Smart App:

    Search for "Kasa Smart" in the Apple App Store or Google Play Store and download the app. Create a Kasa account or log in if you already have one.

  2. Plug in the Power Strip:

    Plug your Kasa Smart Power Strip into a wall outlet. The Wi-Fi LED will blink orange, indicating it's ready for setup.

  3. Add Device in App:

    Open the Kasa Smart app. Tap the "+" icon in the top right corner, then select "Device" and choose "Smart Plugs" -> "Smart Power Strip". Follow the in-app instructions to connect the power strip to your home Wi-Fi network.

  4. Integrate with Voice Assistants (Optional):

    Once set up in the Kasa app, you can link your Kasa account to Amazon Alexa or Google Home for voice control. Refer to the respective voice assistant's app for detailed instructions on linking smart home devices.

Operating Instructions

  • Controlling Outlets:

    Each of the six outlets can be turned on or off independently through the Kasa Smart app. Simply tap on the desired outlet icon to toggle its power state.

  • Scheduling:

    Use the Kasa Smart app to set schedules for your devices. You can program outlets to turn on or off at specific times, or create countdown timers for temporary power control.

  • Energy Monitoring:

    The Kasa Smart app allows you to monitor the energy consumption of devices connected to the power strip. This feature provides insights into daily, weekly, and monthly power usage for each individual outlet.

    Each smart outlet has a physical button on the power strip for manual on/off control, independent of the app.

Maintenance

  • Clean the power strip with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use liquid cleaners or aerosols.
  • Ensure the power strip is unplugged before cleaning.
  • Avoid placing the power strip in areas with high humidity or extreme temperatures.

Troubleshooting

Connectivity Issues:

  • Power Strip Offline: Ensure the power strip is plugged in and the Wi-Fi LED is solid green. If not, try unplugging and replugging the device.
  • Cannot Connect to Wi-Fi: Verify your Wi-Fi network is 2.4GHz. Ensure the power strip is within range of your router. Try restarting your router and the power strip.
  • App Not Responding: Close and reopen the Kasa Smart app. Ensure your smartphone has a stable internet connection.

Outlet Not Responding:

  • Check if the individual outlet is enabled in the Kasa Smart app.
  • Ensure the device plugged into the outlet is functioning correctly.
  • If the power strip's circuit breaker has tripped (indicated by the reset switch being popped out), press the reset switch to restore power.
