Setup and Installation

Proper installation is key to the performance of your Everbilt cabinet hinges. Follow these steps carefully.

Tools Required:

  • Phillips Head Screwdriver
  • Drill (optional, for pilot holes)
  • Measuring Tape or Ruler
  • Pencil

Installation Steps:

  1. Prepare the Cabinet Door: If installing on a new door, use a 35mm Forstner bit to drill the hinge cup holes on the inside of the cabinet door. Ensure the holes are drilled to the correct depth and position for a 3/4 inch overlay.
  2. Attach Hinges to Door: Place the hinge cups into the drilled holes on the cabinet door. Secure the hinges to the door using the provided smaller screws. Ensure the hinges are flush and aligned.
  3. Position the Door on the Cabinet Frame: Hold the cabinet door in its closed position against the face frame of the cabinet. Align the door so that it has the desired overlay and gaps around the edges.
  4. Mark Mounting Holes: With the door held in place, use a pencil to mark the screw hole locations on the cabinet face frame through the hinge mounting plates.
  5. Secure Hinges to Cabinet: Remove the door. Drill small pilot holes at the marked locations on the cabinet face frame (optional, but recommended to prevent wood splitting). Re-position the door and secure the hinge mounting plates to the cabinet face frame using the provided larger screws.
  6. Adjust the Door: Most hinges allow for minor adjustments to achieve perfect door alignment.
    • Side-to-Side Adjustment: Use the screw closest to the cabinet frame to move the door left or right.
    • Depth Adjustment: Use the screw further from the cabinet frame to move the door in or out.
    • Height Adjustment: Some hinges allow for vertical adjustment by loosening the mounting screws, adjusting the door, and re-tightening.

Operating the Soft-Close Feature

The Everbilt 35mm 110-Degree Hinge features an integrated soft-close mechanism. This mechanism automatically engages as the cabinet door approaches the closed position, gently pulling it shut without a slam. No external devices are needed for this function.

Maintenance

Everbilt cabinet hinges are designed for durability and require minimal maintenance.

  • Cleaning: Wipe the hinges periodically with a soft, damp cloth to remove dust and grime. Avoid abrasive cleaners or harsh chemicals, as these can damage the finish.
  • Lubrication: The soft-close mechanism is factory-lubricated and generally does not require additional lubrication. If the hinge action becomes stiff over time, a small amount of silicone-based lubricant can be applied to the pivot points, but avoid spraying directly into the soft-close mechanism.
  • Tightening Screws: Periodically check all mounting screws and tighten them if they have become loose. Do not overtighten.

Troubleshooting

ProblemPossible CauseSolution
