Laser Tracking

The M705 utilizes laser tracking technology, providing precise and smooth cursor control on a variety of surfaces. For optimal performance, use the mouse on a clean, non-reflective surface.

Maintenance and Care

Cleaning

To maintain the performance and appearance of your mouse:

  • Use a soft, lint-free cloth slightly dampened with water or a mild cleaning solution.
  • Avoid using harsh chemicals, abrasive cleaners, or solvents, as these can damage the mouse's surface.
  • Regularly clean the optical sensor area on the underside of the mouse to ensure accurate tracking.

Battery Replacement

The Logitech M705 is designed for an extended battery life of up to three years. When the battery indicator light (if present) signals low power, or if you notice a decrease in performance:

  • Replace the two AA batteries following the installation steps outlined in the Setup Guide.
  • Dispose of old batteries responsibly according to local regulations.

Troubleshooting

Connection Issues

  • No connection: Ensure the Unifying receiver is securely plugged into a working USB port. Try a different USB port.
  • Intermittent connection: Move the mouse closer to the Unifying receiver. Avoid placing the receiver near other electrical devices that might cause interference (e.g., speakers, monitors).
  • Re-pairing: If the mouse loses connection, use the Logitech Unifying Software to re-pair the mouse with its receiver.

Cursor Not Moving or Erratic

  • Check batteries: Ensure batteries are correctly installed and have sufficient charge. Replace them if necessary.
  • Clean sensor: Inspect the laser sensor on the underside of the mouse for any dust or debris and clean it gently with a soft cloth.
  • Surface: Try using the mouse on a different surface. Highly reflective or transparent surfaces may affect laser tracking.

Buttons Not Responding

  • Software conflict: If you have customization software installed, ensure it is up-to-date and not conflicting with other applications.
  • Reset settings: In Logitech Options software, try restoring default button settings to see if the issue resolves.
