3. Scope of Delivery
The package for your Alphacool NexXxoS UT60 Full Copper X-Flow 80mm Dual Radiator includes the following components:
- 1x Alphacool NexXxoS UT60 Full Copper X-Flow 80mm Dual Radiator
- Mounting material (screws for fan and radiator mounting)
4. Setup and Installation
Proper installation is crucial for optimal performance and to prevent leaks. Follow these general steps:
- Preparation: Ensure your system is powered off and disconnected from the mains. Gather all necessary tools (screwdriver, anti-static wrist strap if working inside a PC).
- Mounting Fans: Attach 80mm fans to the radiator using the provided M3 fan threads. This radiator supports 2 fans on one side or 4 fans (2 per side) for push-pull configurations. Ensure fans are oriented correctly for desired airflow (intake or exhaust).
- Radiator Placement: Position the radiator in your case or server rack. The countersunk screw plugs allow for flexible mounting. Secure the radiator using the 4x M3 mounting threads. Ensure there is adequate clearance for airflow and tubing.
- Connecting Tubing: Connect your water cooling tubing to the G1/4" threads on the radiator. Use appropriate fittings (not included) and ensure they are securely tightened to prevent leaks. The X-Flow design means coolant enters one end and exits the other.
- Leak Testing: Before powering on your system, perform a thorough leak test. Fill the loop with coolant and run the pump (if applicable) for several hours, checking for any signs of leaks. It is recommended to use a dedicated leak testing tool or run the pump with only the power supply connected, keeping other components unpowered.
- System Integration: Once leak testing is complete and no leaks are detected, connect all other system components and power on your system.
5. Operating Guidelines
The Alphacool NexXxoS UT60 radiator is designed for continuous operation within a closed-loop water cooling system.
- Coolant Flow: Ensure consistent coolant flow through the radiator. The X-Flow design optimizes heat exchange when coolant enters one end and exits the other.
- Temperature Range: The radiator is designed to operate effectively within a maximum working temperature of 180°C. While this is a high limit, it is crucial to maintain your system's coolant temperature within safe operating ranges for all components.
- Pressure: The radiator has been pressure-tested to 1.5 bar. Do not exceed this pressure during operation or testing.
- Airflow: Ensure adequate airflow through the radiator fins. Blocked airflow will significantly reduce cooling performance. Regularly check that fans are spinning freely and that the fins are not obstructed by dust or debris.
6. Maintenance
Regular maintenance helps ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your radiator.
- Dust Removal: Periodically clean dust and debris from the radiator fins and fans. Use compressed air or a soft brush. Ensure fans are not spinning during cleaning to prevent damage.
- Coolant Inspection/Replacement: Inspect your coolant regularly for discoloration or particle buildup. Replace coolant according to the manufacturer's recommendations (typically every 6-12 months) to prevent corrosion and biological growth within the loop.
- Leak Checks: Periodically inspect all fittings and tubing connections for any signs of leaks or weeping. Address any issues immediately.
- System Flush: When replacing coolant, consider flushing the entire loop with distilled water or a dedicated flushing agent to remove any accumulated residue.
7. Troubleshooting
This section addresses common issues you might encounter.
- Poor Cooling Performance:
- Check for dust buildup on radiator fins and clean if necessary.
- Ensure fans are operating correctly and oriented for optimal airflow.
- Verify coolant flow; check pump operation and for blockages in the loop.
- Consider replacing old coolant.
- Leaks:
- Immediately power down the system.
- Inspect all fittings and connections. Tighten any loose fittings.
- Check tubing for cuts or damage.
- Ensure O-rings are properly seated and not damaged.
- Unusual Noises:
- Check fans for obstructions or bearing issues.
- Ensure the radiator is securely mounted and not vibrating against the case.
- Air bubbles in the loop can cause gurgling sounds; run the pump for an extended period to bleed air.
