1. Introduction
Thank you for choosing the SEBSON Wireless Smoke and Heat Detector GS559A. This device is designed to provide early warning of fire hazards by detecting both smoke and unusual increases in ambient temperature. It features wireless interconnectivity, allowing multiple detectors to communicate and trigger an alarm simultaneously throughout your home. Please read this manual carefully before installation and use to ensure proper operation and safety.
2. Safety Information
- This device is intended for indoor use only.
- Do not paint the smoke detector. Paint can clog the openings and interfere with the sensor's ability to detect smoke.
- Do not install in areas with high humidity, excessive dust, or near sources of combustion (e.g., kitchens, garages, bathrooms).
- Regularly test the detector as described in this manual.
- Replace batteries promptly when the low battery warning is activated.
- Ensure the alarm sound is audible in all sleeping areas.

4. Setup and Installation
4.1 Battery Installation
- Twist the detector counter-clockwise from its mounting plate to separate it.
- Open the battery compartment cover.
- Insert the two 1.5V AA batteries, ensuring correct polarity (+/-).
- Close the battery compartment cover. The detector will emit a short beep and the LED will flash, indicating it is powered on.
4.2 Mounting Location
Install smoke detectors in all sleeping areas, hallways leading to sleeping areas, and on every level of your home, including the basement. For heat detection, consider areas like kitchens or garages where smoke detectors might be prone to false alarms.
4.3 Installation Methods
4.3.1 Magnetic Mount Installation (No Drilling)
The magnetic mount allows for quick and clean installation. Ensure the surface is clean, dry, and smooth.
- Clean the ceiling surface where the detector will be installed.
- Peel off the protective film from one side of the adhesive pad on the magnetic mount.
- Firmly press the adhesive side onto the back of the detector's mounting plate.
- Peel off the protective film from the other side of the adhesive pad.
- Press the detector with the magnetic mount firmly onto the desired ceiling location for at least 10 seconds.
- Twist the detector clockwise onto the mounting plate until it clicks into place.
Note: Magnetic mounts are not suitable for vinyl wallpaper, polystyrene, non-stick surfaces, silicone-coated, or Teflon-coated surfaces.

4.3.2 Screw Mount Installation (Optional)
If the magnetic mount is not suitable or preferred, you can use the included screws and wall plugs.
- Mark the desired drilling points on the ceiling using the mounting plate as a template.
- Drill two holes at the marked positions.
- Insert the wall plugs into the drilled holes.
- Attach the mounting plate to the ceiling using the provided screws.
- Twist the detector clockwise onto the mounting plate until it clicks into place.

4.4 Pairing/Networking Multiple Detectors
The GS559A can be wirelessly linked with up to 15 compatible SEBSON detectors (e.g., GS559A, GS412, GS156A, GS816A, GS188) to create a synchronized alarm system.
- Ensure all detectors have batteries installed and are powered on.
- On the first detector (master), press and hold the test button for approximately 3 seconds until the LED flashes rapidly. This indicates pairing mode.
- Within 60 seconds, on each subsequent detector you wish to link, quickly press the test button twice. The LED on these detectors will also flash rapidly, then briefly illuminate solid to confirm successful pairing.
- Repeat step 3 for all detectors you want to link.
- After pairing all detectors, press the test button on any linked detector. All linked detectors should sound the alarm, confirming successful networking.
5. Operation
5.1 Normal Operation
During normal operation, the LED indicator will flash briefly approximately every 50 seconds, indicating that the detector is functioning correctly and performing its self-test.
5.2 Testing the Detector
It is recommended to test the detector weekly and after any battery replacement or reinstallation.
- Press and hold the test button on the detector for a few seconds.
- The detector will emit a loud alarm sound and the LED will flash. If linked, all connected detectors will also sound the alarm.
- Release the button to stop the alarm.
Note: The test alarm tone is typically quieter than an actual fire alarm to protect hearing.
5.3 Alarm Behavior
- Smoke/Heat Alarm: When smoke or excessive heat (above 54-70 °C) is detected, the detector will emit a loud, pulsating alarm sound (>= 85 dB at 3 meters) and the LED will flash rapidly. If linked, all connected detectors will also activate their alarms.
- Low Battery Warning: When the batteries are low, the detector will emit a short chirp approximately every 50 seconds, accompanied by a brief LED flash. Replace the batteries immediately.
5.4 Mute and Silence Functions
- Low Battery Mute (10 hours): If the low battery warning is inconvenient (e.g., at night), you can press the test button to mute the chirping for 10 hours. The detector remains functional for smoke/heat detection during this period.
- Silence Mode (10 minutes): In case of a false alarm (e.g., from cooking fumes), press the test button to silence the alarm for 10 minutes. The detector will automatically reset after 10 minutes if the smoke/heat has cleared. If the hazard persists, the alarm will reactivate.
6. Maintenance
6.1 Battery Replacement
When the low battery warning sounds (chirp every 50 seconds), replace both AA batteries immediately. Refer to section 4.1 for battery installation steps.
6.2 Cleaning
Clean your smoke detector at least once a month to remove dust and debris. Use a soft, damp cloth to wipe the exterior. Do not use cleaning sprays or solvents. You may also use a vacuum cleaner with a soft brush attachment to gently clean around the sensor openings.
7. Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Detector chirps every 50 seconds | Low battery | Replace both AA batteries. |
| Detector does not sound during test | No batteries, incorrect battery installation, or faulty unit. | Check battery installation. Replace batteries. If problem persists, contact support. |
| False alarms | Steam, cooking fumes, dust, or insects. | Relocate detector away from sources of false alarms. Clean the detector. Use silence mode if appropriate. |
| Linked detectors do not all alarm | Detectors not properly paired or out of range. | Re-pair the detectors as per section 4.4. Ensure detectors are within wireless range (approx. 35m indoors). |
