Its IPX6 waterproof rating makes it suitable for various outdoor and indoor environments, including showers, beaches, and poolside use. The speaker also supports True Wireless Stereo (TWS) pairing for an enhanced audio experience.

4. Product Overview

4.1. Speaker Components

Familiarize yourself with the buttons and ports on your XENEO X21 speaker:

  • Power Button: Press and hold to power on/off. Short press to change mode.
  • Volume Down / Previous Track Button (-): Short press for volume down. Long press for previous track.
  • Volume Up / Next Track Button (+): Short press for volume up. Long press for next track.
  • Play / Pause / Call Button (►/❚❚): Short press to play/pause. Short press to answer/end call. Long press to reject call.
  • Mode Button (M): Short press to cycle through Bluetooth, FM Radio, Micro SD, and AUX modes.
  • Charging Port: USB port for charging the speaker.
  • AUX Input: 3.5mm audio jack for wired connection.
  • Micro SD Card Slot: For playing music directly from a Micro SD card.

5. Setup

5.1. Charging the Speaker

  1. Connect the provided USB charging cable to the speaker's charging port.
  2. Connect the other end of the USB cable to a USB power adapter (not included) or a computer's USB port.
  3. The LED indicator will illuminate during charging and turn off when fully charged.
  4. A full charge takes approximately 3 hours.

5.2. Powering On/Off

  • To Power On: Press and hold the Power button for 2-3 seconds until you hear an audible prompt.
  • To Power Off: Press and hold the Power button for 2-3 seconds until you hear an audible prompt.

5.3. Bluetooth Pairing

  1. Ensure the speaker is powered on and in Bluetooth mode (indicated by a flashing blue LED). If not, short press the Mode button to switch to Bluetooth mode.
  2. Enable Bluetooth on your mobile device (smartphone, tablet, etc.).
  3. Search for available Bluetooth devices and select "XENEO X21" from the list.
  4. Once paired, the LED indicator will turn solid blue, and you will hear a confirmation tone.
  5. The speaker will automatically reconnect to the last paired device when powered on, if the device is within range.

5.4. True Wireless Stereo (TWS) Pairing

To achieve stereo sound, you can pair two XENEO X21 speakers together:

  1. Ensure both XENEO X21 speakers are powered on and in Bluetooth mode, but not connected to any device.
  2. On one of the speakers (this will be the primary speaker), double-press the Play/Pause button. The speaker will emit a pairing tone.
  3. The two speakers will automatically search for and pair with each other. Once paired, you will hear a confirmation tone, and the LED indicators on both speakers will show a solid blue light.
  4. Now, connect your mobile device to the primary speaker via Bluetooth as described in section 5.3.
  5. Audio will now play in stereo through both speakers.
  6. To disconnect TWS, double-press the Play/Pause button on either speaker.

6. Operating Modes

6.1. Bluetooth Mode

After successful Bluetooth pairing (see section 5.3), you can stream audio wirelessly from your connected device. Use the Play/Pause, Volume Up/Down, and Next/Previous Track buttons on the speaker or your device to control playback.

6.2. FM Radio Mode

  1. Short press the Mode button until you hear the FM Radio prompt.
  2. To auto-scan and save available stations, short press the Play/Pause button. The speaker will scan and store stations automatically.
  3. Use the Volume Up (+) and Volume Down (-) buttons (short press) to navigate through the saved FM stations.

6.3. Micro SD Card Mode

  1. Insert a Micro SD card (with MP3 audio files) into the Micro SD card slot.
  2. Short press the Mode button until you hear the Micro SD card mode prompt.
  3. The speaker will automatically begin playing music from the card.
  4. Use the Play/Pause, Volume Up/Down, and Next/Previous Track buttons to control playback.

6.4. AUX Input Mode

  1. Connect one end of a 3.5mm audio cable (not included) to the speaker's AUX input port.
  2. Connect the other end of the cable to the audio output of your device (e.g., MP3 player, laptop).
  3. Short press the Mode button until you hear the AUX mode prompt.
  4. Control playback and volume directly from your connected device.

6.5. Hands-free Calling

When connected via Bluetooth to a smartphone, the speaker can be used for hands-free calls:

  • Answer Call: Short press the Play/Pause button.
  • End Call: Short press the Play/Pause button.
  • Reject Call: Long press the Play/Pause button.

7. Maintenance

7.1. Cleaning

  • Wipe the speaker with a soft, damp cloth.
  • Do not use abrasive cleaners, alcohol, or chemical solvents.
  • Ensure all ports are dry before charging or connecting other devices.

7.2. Storage

  • Store the speaker in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
  • If storing for an extended period, charge the battery to approximately 50% every few months to prolong battery life.
  • Utilize the included hard EVA travel case for protection during transport and storage.

7.3. Water Resistance (IPX6)

The XENEO X21 speaker is rated IPX6, meaning it is protected against high-pressure water jets from any direction. This makes it suitable for use in environments like showers, beaches, and poolside. However, it is not designed to be submerged in water. Ensure the charging port and AUX port covers are securely closed before exposing the speaker to water.

8. Troubleshooting

Problem Solution
Speaker does not power on. Ensure the battery is charged. Connect the speaker to a power source using the USB cable.
Cannot pair via Bluetooth. Make sure the speaker is in Bluetooth pairing mode (flashing blue LED). Ensure your device's Bluetooth is enabled and within 10 meters (33 feet) of the speaker. Forget previous pairings on your device and try again.
No sound or low volume. Check the volume levels on both the speaker and your connected device. Ensure the speaker is in the correct mode (Bluetooth, AUX, Micro SD).
FM radio reception is poor. Move the speaker to a location with better signal. Perform an auto-scan again to find stronger stations.
TWS pairing fails. Ensure both speakers are powered on, in Bluetooth mode, and not connected to any other device before initiating TWS pairing. Keep them close during pairing.
