2. Important Safety Instructions

Always follow basic safety precautions when using electrical appliances to reduce the risk of fire, electric shock, injury to persons, or exposure to excessive microwave energy.

  • Read all instructions before using the appliance.
  • Do not attempt to operate this oven with the door open as this can result in harmful exposure to microwave energy.

  • Do not operate the oven if it is damaged. It is particularly important that the oven door closes properly and that there is no damage to the: (1) door (bent), (2) hinges and latches (broken or loosened), (3) door seals and sealing surfaces.
  • The oven should not be adjusted or repaired by anyone except properly qualified service personnel.
  • Liquids or other foods must not be heated in sealed containers since they are liable to explode.
  • Only use utensils that are suitable for use in microwave ovens.
  • When heating food in plastic or paper containers, keep a close watch on the oven due to the possibility of ignition.
  • If smoke is observed, switch off or unplug the appliance and keep the door closed in order to stifle any flames.
  • Microwave heating of beverages can result in delayed eruptive boiling, therefore care must be taken when handling the container.
  • The contents of feeding bottles and baby food jars shall be stirred or shaken and the temperature checked before consumption, in order to avoid burns.
  • Eggs in their shell and whole hard-boiled eggs should not be heated in microwave ovens since they may explode, even after microwave heating has ended.
  • The appliance is not intended for use by persons (including children) with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge, unless they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance by a person responsible for their safety.
  • Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the appliance.

4. Setup and Installation

4.1 Unpacking

  1. Carefully remove the microwave oven and all packing materials from the carton.
  2. Check the oven for any damage, such as dents or a misaligned door. Do not operate the oven if it is damaged. Contact customer service immediately.
  3. Remove any protective film from the surface of the cabinet and door.

4.2 Placement

  • Place the oven on a flat, stable surface that can support its weight and the heaviest food likely to be cooked in the oven.
  • Ensure adequate ventilation: Leave a minimum of 20 cm (8 inches) of space above the oven, 10 cm (4 inches) at the rear, and 5 cm (2 inches) on each side for proper airflow.
  • Do not block air vents.
  • Do not place the oven near heat sources such as radiators, stoves, or other heat-producing appliances.
  • Keep the oven away from strong magnetic fields.

4.3 Electrical Connection

  • Ensure the power supply matches the specifications: 230 V~ 50 Hz.
  • Plug the oven into a properly installed and grounded wall outlet. Do not use extension cords or adapters.

4.4 Turntable Assembly

  1. Place the rotating ring inside the oven cavity.
  2. Place the glass tray securely on top of the rotating ring. Ensure it sits properly in the center.

5. Operating Instructions

The Klarstein Caroline microwave oven features two main control knobs for simple operation.

5.1 Control Panel Overview

  • Upper Knob (Power/Function Selector): Used to select microwave power levels or combined grill functions.

5.2 Microwave Cooking

  1. Place food in a microwave-safe container on the glass tray.
  2. Close the oven door securely.
  3. Turn the Upper Knob to select the desired microwave power level (e.g., High for full power).
  4. Turn the Lower Knob to set the desired cooking time. The oven will start automatically once the timer is set.
  5. When the cooking time is complete, the oven will chime and stop. Carefully remove the food.

5.3 Grill Cooking

  1. Place food on the BBQ grill rack, then place the rack on the glass tray.
  2. Close the oven door securely.
  3. Turn the Upper Knob to select "Grill".
  4. Turn the Lower Knob to set the desired grilling time. The oven will start automatically.
  5. Monitor food closely to prevent burning.

5.4 Combined Cooking (Microwave + Grill)

  1. Place food in a suitable container (or on the grill rack if appropriate) on the glass tray.
  2. Close the oven door securely.
  3. Turn the Upper Knob to select one of the "Combi.1", "Combi.2", or "Combi.3" settings. These settings combine microwave and grill power for optimal results for different food types.
  4. Turn the Lower Knob to set the desired cooking time. The oven will start automatically.

5.5 Defrosting by Weight

  1. Place the frozen food on the glass tray.
  2. Close the oven door securely.
  3. Turn the Upper Knob to "M.Low (Defrost)".
  4. Turn the Lower Knob to the desired weight setting (e.g., 0.2 kg, 0.4 kg, etc.). The oven will automatically calculate the defrosting time and begin.
  5. During defrosting, it may be necessary to turn the food over to ensure even thawing.

6. Care and Maintenance

Regular cleaning and proper maintenance will ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your microwave oven.

6.1 Cleaning the Oven Interior

  • Always unplug the oven before cleaning.
  • Wipe the interior surfaces, including the stainless steel walls, with a damp cloth and mild detergent after each use.
  • For stubborn stains, place a bowl of water with lemon juice inside and heat on high for 2-3 minutes. The steam will loosen the residue, making it easier to wipe away.
  • The glass tray and rotating ring can be removed and washed in warm, soapy water or in a dishwasher.
  • Ensure all parts are dry before reassembling and using the oven.

6.2 Cleaning the Oven Exterior

  • Wipe the exterior surfaces with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or scouring pads, as they can damage the finish.
  • Clean the door and door seals regularly to ensure proper closure and prevent food buildup.

6.3 Storage

  • If storing the oven for an extended period, ensure it is clean and dry.
  • Store in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and moisture.
