SONICAKE Cry-Bot Auto Wah Envelope Filter Guitar Pedal

Model: CRY-BOT | Brand: SONICAKE

Introduction

The SONICAKE Cry-Bot is a 100% analog envelope filter/auto wah pedal designed to provide dynamic tonal control for both guitar and bass. This compact effects pedal offers fast and accurate tracking, allowing musicians to achieve a wide range of funky tones based on their picking dynamics. Featuring true bypass circuitry, it ensures a clean signal path when the effect is disengaged.

Safety Information

Please read and follow all instructions carefully to ensure safe and optimal operation of your SONICAKE Cry-Bot pedal.

  • Use only a 9V DC center negative power supply (not included). Using an incorrect power supply may damage the unit and void the warranty.
  • Do not expose the unit to extreme temperatures, humidity, or direct sunlight.
  • Avoid dropping the unit or subjecting it to strong impacts.
  • Do not attempt to disassemble or modify the unit. There are no user-serviceable parts inside.

Setup

Power Supply

The Cry-Bot pedal requires a 9V DC power supply with a center negative polarity. The power supply is not included with the pedal. Ensure the power supply meets these specifications to prevent damage.

Connections

  1. Connect your guitar or bass to the INPUT jack on the right side of the pedal using a standard 1/4-inch instrument cable.
  2. Connect the OUTPUT jack on the left side of the pedal to your amplifier or the next pedal in your signal chain using a standard 1/4-inch instrument cable.
  3. Connect the 9V DC center negative power supply to the DC 9V input at the top of the pedal.

True Bypass

The Cry-Bot features true bypass circuitry. This means that when the pedal is disengaged (effect off), your instrument's signal passes directly through the pedal without any coloration or degradation, maintaining the integrity of your tone.

Operating Instructions

The SONICAKE Cry-Bot pedal is designed for intuitive operation with four primary control knobs:

  • SENS (Sensitivity): This large central knob controls the sensitivity of the envelope filter to your picking dynamics. Turn clockwise for higher sensitivity, meaning the wah effect will respond more dramatically to lighter picking.
  • FREQ (Frequency): Adjusts the frequency range of the wah effect. Experiment with this knob to find the sweet spot for your instrument and desired tone.
  • DECAY: Controls how quickly the wah effect returns to its resting point after being triggered. Higher decay settings result in a slower return.
  • PRES (Presence): Adjusts the presence or brightness of the filtered sound, allowing you to fine-tune the tonal character of the wah effect.

Activating the Effect

Press the footswitch to toggle the effect on or off. The LED indicator will illuminate when the effect is active.

Tone Shaping

The Cry-Bot is 100% analog, providing a classic envelope filter sound. It is designed to work effectively with both guitar and bass, offering fast and accurate tracking to ensure your playing dynamics are translated into expressive wah tones.

Maintenance

To ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your Cry-Bot pedal:

  • Clean the pedal regularly with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
  • Store the pedal in a dry environment away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
  • When not in use for extended periods, disconnect the power supply.

Troubleshooting

  • No Sound: Check all cable connections (input, output, power). Ensure the power supply is correctly connected and meets the 9V DC center negative specification. Verify your instrument and amplifier are working correctly.
  • Unwanted Noise: Ensure all cables are properly shielded and in good condition. Try using an isolated power supply to eliminate noise from other pedals.
  • Effect Not Engaging: Press the footswitch firmly. If the LED does not light up, check the power supply.
