4. Operating Instructions
4.1 Making Espresso
- Ensure the water tank is filled.
- Insert the desired filter basket into the portafilter.
- Add ground coffee to the filter basket using the scoop. For a single shot, use one scoop (approx. 7g); for a double shot, use two scoops (approx. 14g). Level the coffee and tamp it gently.
- Attach the portafilter to the brewing head by aligning it and twisting firmly to the right until it locks.
- Place one or two espresso cups on the drip tray under the portafilter spouts.
- Press the coffee brewing button. The machine will start extracting espresso.
- Once the desired amount of espresso is brewed (typically 25-30ml per shot), press the coffee brewing button again to stop the flow.
- Carefully remove the portafilter by twisting it to the left. Dispose of the used coffee grounds.
4.2 Frothing Milk for Cappuccino and Latte
The swivel steam jet allows you to froth milk for various coffee beverages.
- Fill a stainless steel frothing pitcher with cold milk (do not fill more than one-third, as milk volume will increase).
- Turn the steam/hot water knob to the 'Steam' position. Wait for the steam indicator light to illuminate, indicating the machine has reached steaming temperature.
- Position the steam wand just below the surface of the milk.
- Slowly turn the steam/hot water knob to release steam. Move the pitcher up and down to incorporate air and create froth.
- Once the milk has reached the desired temperature and froth consistency, turn the steam/hot water knob to the 'Off' position.
- Wipe the steam wand immediately with a damp cloth to prevent milk residue from drying.
4.3 Using the Cup Warming Tray
The tray on top of the appliance helps keep your coffee cups warm, ensuring your coffee stays hot longer.
- Place your ceramic or glass cups on the metal tray located on the top surface of the coffee maker.
- The residual heat from the machine will gently warm the cups.
5. Maintenance and Cleaning
Regular cleaning ensures optimal performance and extends the life of your coffee maker.
- Daily Cleaning:
- Empty and clean the drip tray and grid after each use.
- Remove and clean the portafilter and filter basket. Rinse thoroughly to remove all coffee grounds.
- Wipe the steam wand immediately after frothing milk to prevent blockages. If blocked, use a small pin to clear the hole.
- Wipe the exterior of the machine with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners.
- Water Tank Cleaning: Clean the water tank periodically with mild detergent and rinse thoroughly.
- Descaling: Over time, mineral deposits can build up in the machine. Descale your coffee maker every 2-3 months, or more frequently if you have hard water. Follow the instructions of a commercial descaling solution suitable for coffee machines.
