2. Important Safety Information

Read and understand all safety warnings and operating instructions before using this bottle jack. Failure to follow these instructions may result in property damage, personal injury, or death.

General Safety Precautions

  • Always operate the jack on a hard, level surface.
  • Ensure the load is centered on the jack saddle.
  • Never exceed the rated lifting capacity of 6 tons.
  • Do not use the jack as a permanent support device. Always use appropriate jack stands to support the load after lifting.
  • Keep hands and feet clear of the jack and the load during operation.
  • Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), such as safety glasses and gloves.
  • Inspect the jack for damage or wear before each use. Do not use if damaged.
  • Keep children and unauthorized persons away from the work area.
  • Do not modify the jack in any way.

Lifting and Lowering Safety

  • Ensure the vehicle's parking brake is engaged and wheels are chocked before lifting.
  • Lift only on areas specified by the vehicle manufacturer.
  • Lower the load slowly and carefully.

3. Setup

Before using the Geko 6T Bottle Jack, ensure it is properly prepared for operation.

Unpacking and Inspection

  1. Carefully remove the jack and its components from the packaging.
  2. Inspect the jack for any signs of shipping damage. If damage is found, do not use the jack and contact your supplier.
  3. Verify that all components, including the two-piece handle, are present.

Assembling the Handle

  1. Insert the smaller handle section into the larger handle section.
  2. Ensure the handle is securely connected before use.

4. Operating Instructions

Follow these steps for safe and effective operation of your Geko 6T Bottle Jack.

Lifting a Load

  1. Preparation: Position the jack on a hard, level surface directly under the lifting point of the load as specified by the manufacturer. Ensure the load is stable and cannot roll or shift.
  2. Close Release Valve: Turn the release valve (typically a screw or knob at the base) clockwise until it is firmly closed. Do not overtighten.
  3. Position Jack: Ensure the jack saddle is centered under the lifting point.
  4. Pump Handle: Insert the handle into the pump sleeve. Pump the handle up and down steadily to raise the jack's ram and lift the load.
  5. Monitor Lift: Continue pumping until the load reaches the desired height. Do not lift beyond the maximum extension marked on the ram.
  6. Secure Load: Immediately place appropriate jack stands under the load for support. The jack is for lifting only, not for sustained support.

Lowering a Load

  1. Raise Slightly: If the load is on jack stands, slightly raise the load with the bottle jack to remove pressure from the stands.
  2. Remove Jack Stands: Carefully remove the jack stands from under the load.
  3. Open Release Valve: Slowly turn the release valve counter-clockwise to gradually lower the load. Control the descent speed by adjusting how much the valve is opened.
  4. Full Lowering: Continue lowering until the load is fully supported on the ground or its wheels.
  5. Retract Ram: Once the load is fully lowered, fully open the release valve and gently push the ram down if it does not retract completely on its own.

5. Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and safe operation of your Geko 6T Bottle Jack.

Lubrication

  • Periodically lubricate moving parts, such as the pump mechanism and ram, with light machine oil.
  • Check the hydraulic oil level every three months. To do this, fully lower the ram, remove the oil filler plug, and ensure the oil level is just below the filler hole. Top up with hydraulic jack oil if necessary.

Cleaning and Storage

  • Keep the jack clean and free from dirt, grease, and moisture.
  • Store the jack in a dry, protected area with the ram fully retracted.

Inspection

  • Before each use, inspect the jack for any signs of damage, leaks, or wear. Pay close attention to welds, the ram, and the base.
  • If any damage is found, do not use the jack and have it repaired by qualified personnel.
