Setup and Installation

The SEAFLO 06 Series Bilge Pump is designed for easy installation. Follow these guidelines for proper setup:

  1. Mounting: Securely mount the pump in the lowest part of the bilge where water collects. Ensure the pump is level for optimal float switch operation.
  2. Wiring: The pump includes 18 AWG, 1m long leads for flexible wiring.
    • Connect the brown-white wire to the positive (+) terminal for automatic operation.
    • Connect the black wire to the negative (-) terminal (ground).
    • For manual override, connect the brown wire to a separate positive (+) terminal via a manual switch (not included).
  3. Hose Connection: Connect a 3/4" (19mm) hose to the pump's outlet. Ensure the hose is routed upwards to prevent backflow and is securely fastened to prevent leaks.
  4. Fuse Requirement: A 5A fuse is required for proper circuit protection.

Operating Instructions

The SEAFLO 06 Series Bilge Pump operates automatically via its integrated float switch:

  • Automatic Activation: The pump will automatically activate when the water level rises approximately 2 inches (50 mm) above the strainer's bottom surface.
  • Automatic Deactivation: The pump will automatically shut off when the water level drops to approximately 3/4 inch (20 mm) above the strainer's bottom surface, ensuring efficient water removal without unnecessary operation.
  • Manual Override (Optional): If wired with a manual switch, the pump can be operated continuously regardless of water level for specific situations or testing.

Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of your bilge pump:

  1. Strainer Cleaning: The snap-off strainer allows for easy removal and cleaning. Periodically remove the strainer to clear any debris, such as leaves, hair, or other foreign objects, that may obstruct the impeller or intake.
  2. Impeller Inspection: After cleaning the strainer, inspect the 5-blade impeller for any damage or wear. Ensure it spins freely.
  3. Wiring Check: Regularly inspect all wiring connections for corrosion or damage. Ensure connections are secure and waterproof.
  4. Float Switch Test: Periodically test the float switch by manually raising it to ensure the pump activates. Allow it to drop to confirm deactivation.

Troubleshooting

If your SEAFLO bilge pump is not operating as expected, consider the following common issues and solutions:

ProblemPossible CauseSolution
Pump does not turn on.No power, blown fuse, faulty wiring, clogged intake, stuck float switch.Check power supply and fuse. Inspect all wiring connections. Clean the strainer and check for impeller obstructions. Ensure float switch moves freely.
Pump runs continuously.Stuck float switch, airlock in hose, backflow.Check float switch for obstructions. Clear any airlocks in the discharge hose. Ensure hose is routed correctly to prevent backflow.
Low flow rate or no water pumped.Clogged strainer/impeller, kinked hose, low voltage, airlock.Clean strainer and impeller. Check hose for kinks or blockages. Verify proper voltage supply. Clear airlock.
