Important Safety Instructions

Setup and Installation

1. Unpacking: Carefully remove the microwave oven and all packing materials from the carton. Check for any damage such as dents or a broken door. Do not install if damaged.
2. Placement: Place the microwave oven on a flat, stable surface that can support its weight. Ensure there is adequate ventilation: at least 3 inches (7.5 cm) of space on the top, sides, and rear for proper airflow. Do not block air vents.
3. Power Connection: Plug the power cord into a standard 3-prong, 120V, 60Hz grounded electrical outlet. Do not use an extension cord or adapter.
4. Turntable Installation:
   • Place the turntable ring inside the oven cavity.
   • Place the glass turntable plate securely on top of the turntable ring. Ensure it sits properly on the center hub.
5. Initial Test: Place a cup of water inside the oven and close the door. Set the microwave to high power for 1 minute. If the water heats up, the oven is operating correctly.

Operating Instructions

Basic Microwave Cooking

1. Place food in a microwave-safe container on the glass turntable.
2. Close the oven door securely.
3. Press the "Time Cook" button.
4. Enter the desired cooking time using the number pad.
5. Press the "Power Level" button (optional, default is 100%). Use number pad to select power level (e.g., 7 for 70%).
6. Press "Start" to begin cooking.
7. The oven will beep when cooking is complete. Open the door and carefully remove the food.

Defrosting Food

The Amana RMS10DS features an Auto Defrost function.

1. Place the frozen food on the turntable.
2. Press the "Auto Defrost" button.
3. Enter the weight of the food in pounds using the number pad.
4. Press "Start". The oven will automatically calculate the defrosting time and power level.
5. During defrosting, the oven may pause and prompt you to turn or separate the food for even defrosting.

Setting the Clock

1. Press the "Clock" button.
2. Enter the current time using the number pad (e.g., 1230 for 12:30).
3. Press the "Clock" button again to confirm.

Maintenance and Cleaning

Regular cleaning and maintenance will ensure optimal performance and extend the life of your microwave oven.

Exterior Cleaning

• Wipe the exterior with a soft cloth and mild soap and water.
• Avoid abrasive cleaners or scouring pads, which can scratch the stainless steel finish.
• For stainless steel surfaces, use a specialized stainless steel cleaner for best results.

Interior Cleaning

• To remove odors and loosen dried-on food, place a bowl of water with lemon slices or vinegar inside the oven and microwave on high for 5-7 minutes.
• Wipe the interior with a soft, damp cloth.
• Clean the door seals and sealing surfaces regularly to prevent food residue buildup.

Turntable Care

• The glass turntable and turntable ring can be removed for cleaning.
• Wash them in warm, soapy water or in the dishwasher.
• Ensure they are completely dry before placing them back in the oven.
