Setup Instructions

The Keter Rockford trash can is designed for straightforward assembly. Please follow these general guidelines for proper setup.

Assembly Tips:

  • Ensure all components are present and undamaged before beginning assembly.
  • When connecting panels, ensure they bend at a 90-degree angle in the correct direction. The correct bend will result in a smooth curve on the outer corners, not an accordion-like profile. If panels appear to "accordion," reverse the direction of the bend.
  • Components should fit snugly with firm pressure when correctly aligned. Avoid forcing parts if they do not align easily.

  2. Gently pull the drawer outwards until it is fully extended and can be removed.
  3. Empty any accumulated liquids or debris from the tray.
  4. Wash the tray with mild soap and water. Rinse thoroughly and allow to dry before reinserting.
  5. Slide the clean drip tray back into its compartment at the base of the trash can.

General Cleaning:

  • Wipe down the exterior surfaces with a damp cloth and mild detergent as needed.
  • Avoid using abrasive cleaners or harsh chemicals, as these may damage the resin material.
  • The weather-resistant polypropylene construction means the unit can be left outdoors year-round without significant degradation.

Troubleshooting

Difficulty Removing Full Trash Bags:

Some users have reported difficulty removing full trash bags due to an internal lip where the lid assembly meets the sidewalls. This can cause bags to snag or tear, especially with heavy contents.

  • Solution: To mitigate this, consider applying wide aluminum duct tape around the inside of the junction between the panels and the lid. This creates a smoother surface, reducing the likelihood of bags snagging during removal.

Lid Not Securing Properly:

Ensure the lid is properly aligned and pressed down firmly until the latch engages. Check for any obstructions around the latch mechanism or the rim of the can.

Animals Accessing Contents:

The secure double-lid system is designed to deter animals. Ensure the lid is always fully closed and latched after each use. If persistent issues occur, verify that the latch mechanism is functioning correctly and not damaged.
