1. Introduction

This manual provides essential information for the safe and efficient operation of your Intex 55227 Krystal Clear Sand Filter Pump. 4. Setup and Installation

Follow these steps for proper installation of your sand filter pump:

1. Placement: Position the sand filter pump on a firm, level surface near your pool. Ensure it is at least 2 meters (6.5 feet) away from the pool and protected from direct sunlight and rain.
2. Assemble Base: Securely attach the pump and filter tank to the provided base according to the diagrams in the full manual.
3. Add Filter Media: Remove the multi-port valve from the top of the filter tank. Carefully pour the recommended amount of filter media (sand, glass sand, or filter balls) into the tank. Ensure the standpipe is centered during this process.
4. Install Multi-port Valve: Reattach the multi-port valve to the filter tank, ensuring a tight seal.
5. Connect Hoses:
   • Connect the 38mm hoses from the pump to the pool's inlet and outlet connections.
   • If your pool has 32mm connections, you will need to use two Type B adapters (sold separately) to ensure proper fit.
   • Secure all hose connections with the provided clamps to prevent leaks.
6. Initial Priming: Before plugging in, ensure the filter tank is filled with water and all air is purged from the system. Refer to the detailed instructions in the full manual for priming procedures.

5. Operation

The Intex 55227 Sand Filter Pump features a digital control panel and a 6-function multi-port valve for various operating modes:

Multi-Port Valve Functions:

• Filter: Normal filtering mode. Water is pumped through the sand bed, filtered, and returned to the pool.
• Backwash: Reverses water flow to clean the sand bed. This flushes accumulated debris out through the waste port.
• Rinse: Used after backwashing to settle the sand bed and flush any remaining dirty water to waste.
• Waste: Bypasses the filter and pumps water directly out of the pool to waste. Useful for vacuuming heavy debris or lowering pool water level.
• Recirculate: Circulates pool water without filtering it. Useful for mixing chemicals.
• Closed: Shuts off all flow to the filter. Use this setting when performing maintenance on the pump or filter.

Digital Panel Features:

• Automatic Daily Programming: Set the pump to operate for cycles of 1 to 12 hours daily.
• Lock/Unlock Function: Prevents accidental changes to settings.
• Pre-filter: The external pre-filter collects larger debris before it reaches the sand, protecting the pump and extending filter media life.
