Operating the AZ-GTi Mount
Connecting via WiFi and SynScan Pro App
The AZ-GTi generates its own WiFi signal for control via a smartphone or tablet. Follow these steps:
- Download the Sky-Watcher SynScan Pro app from your device's app store (iOS or Android).
- Power on the AZ-GTi mount.
- On your smartphone or tablet, connect to the WiFi network broadcast by the AZ-GTi mount. The network name typically starts with "SynScan_WiFi".
- Launch the SynScan Pro app. The app will automatically detect and connect to the mount.

Alignment Procedure
For accurate GoTo functionality, the mount requires alignment. Refer to the SynScan Pro app's in-app instructions for detailed alignment procedures (e.g., 1-star, 2-star, or 3-star alignment).
GoTo and Tracking
Once aligned, you can select celestial objects from the SynScan Pro app's database. The mount will automatically slew to the selected object and begin tracking it to keep it centered in your eyepiece or camera field of view.

Freedom Find Dual Encoders
The AZ-GTi features Freedom Find dual encoders, allowing you to manually move the telescope without losing the mount's alignment. After manual movement, the mount will automatically resume tracking from the new position.
Photography Mode (Time-Lapse and Panorama)
The SynScan Pro app includes a photography mode for creating time-lapse videos and panoramic photos. Connect your DSLR camera to the mount's SNAP port using an optional shutter release cable. The mount can trigger your DSLR for automated shooting sequences.

Maintenance
Cleaning
Keep the mount clean by wiping it with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid using abrasive cleaners or solvents that could damage the finish or internal components.
Storage
When not in use, store the mount in a dry, dust-free environment. It is recommended to remove batteries if storing for extended periods to prevent leakage.
Gearing
The AZ-GTi features rugged brass and aluminum gears for smooth operation. These gears are designed for durability and typically do not require user maintenance or lubrication.

Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Mount does not power on. | Low or dead batteries; incorrect external power connection. | Replace batteries or ensure external 12V power supply is correctly connected and functional. |
| Cannot connect to mount via WiFi. | WiFi signal not active; incorrect network selected; app issue. | Ensure mount is powered on and WiFi indicator is active. Verify you are connected to the correct "SynScan_WiFi" network. Restart the SynScan Pro app or your device. |
| GoTo accuracy is poor. | Improper alignment; mount not level; excessive payload. | Perform a more precise alignment (e.g., 3-star alignment). Ensure the tripod is level. Verify payload does not exceed 11 pounds. |
| Tracking is not smooth. | Mount not balanced; loose connections; extreme temperatures. | Ensure telescope/camera is balanced on the mount. Check all connections for tightness. Operate within recommended temperature ranges. |
