1. Introduction
This manual provides comprehensive instructions for the safe and efficient operation, installation, and maintenance of the S&A CWFL-1500 Industrial Water Chiller. The CWFL-1500 is specifically designed for cooling 1500W fiber lasers, featuring dual independent refrigeration circuits to provide separate cooling for both the fiber laser and its laser head. Please read this manual thoroughly before operating the unit to ensure proper function and longevity.

2. Safety Information
Always adhere to the following safety precautions to prevent injury or damage to the equipment.
- Electrical Safety: Ensure the chiller is connected to a properly grounded power supply with the correct voltage (AC 1P 220~240V, 50Hz). Do not operate with damaged power cords.
- Refrigerant Handling: The chiller uses R-410a refrigerant. Refrigerant is not included in the package and must be charged by a qualified technician. Do not attempt to handle refrigerant without proper training and equipment.
- Water Quality: Use only clean, pure, impurity-free water such as purified water, clean distilled water, or deionized water. Impure water can damage the system.
- Ventilation: Ensure adequate ventilation around the chiller to prevent overheating. Do not block air inlets or outlets.
- Placement: Place the chiller on a stable, level surface. The caster wheels are for mobility; secure the unit once positioned.
- Emergency Shutdown: Familiarize yourself with the power switch location for immediate shutdown in emergencies.
3. Product Overview
The S&A CWFL-1500 chiller is designed for precise temperature control of fiber lasers. Key components and features include:

4. Setup Instructions
- Unpacking: Carefully remove the chiller from its packaging. Inspect for any shipping damage.
- Placement: Position the chiller on a flat, stable surface. Ensure there is sufficient space (at least 20cm) around the unit for proper air circulation. The caster wheels allow for easy movement.
- Water Filling:
- Locate the back-mounted fill port.
- Fill the tank with approximately 14 liters of clean, pure, impurity-free water (e.g., purified water, distilled water, deionized water).
- Monitor the visual water level indicator to avoid overfilling.
- Connecting to Laser System:
- Connect the chiller's water inlets and outlets (Rp1/2" + Rp1/2") to the corresponding ports on your fiber laser and laser head. Ensure connections are secure and leak-free.
- The dual circuits are typically labeled for high (H) and low (L) temperature requirements, corresponding to the laser head and fiber laser respectively.
- Power Connection: Connect the chiller to a dedicated AC 1P 220~240V, 50Hz power outlet. Ensure the power supply is stable and grounded.
- Refrigerant Charge: (Important Note: Refrigerant is not included.) The chiller requires 1100g of R-410a refrigerant. This must be charged by a certified HVAC technician before initial operation.
5. Operating Instructions
- Initial Power On: After completing all setup steps, turn on the main power switch. The digital temperature controllers will illuminate.
- Temperature Setting: The intelligent temperature control function will automatically adjust the water temperature within the range of 5°C to 35°C based on ambient temperature. Manual adjustments can be made via the digital controller interface if specific temperatures are required, referring to the controller's dedicated manual for detailed programming.
- Monitoring: Regularly check the digital display for current water temperatures and the water pressure gauge. Pay attention to any alarm indicators.
- Normal Operation: The chiller will maintain the set temperature by cycling the compressor and cooling fan as needed. The dual circuits operate independently to provide optimal cooling for both the laser and laser head.
- Shutdown: To turn off the chiller, press the main power switch. For extended periods of non-use, it is recommended to drain the water.
6. Maintenance
Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of your chiller.
- Water Change: Change out the water periodically. Every 3 months is suggested, or more frequently depending on the actual working environment and water quality.
- Cleaning Filters: Regularly clean the dust filters on the condenser to ensure proper airflow and cooling efficiency.
- Condenser Cleaning: Periodically clean the condenser fins to remove dust and debris. This can be done with compressed air or a soft brush.
- Water Quality Check: Periodically check the quality of the circulating water. If it appears cloudy or contains particles, drain and refill with fresh, pure water.
- Leak Inspection: Regularly inspect all water connections and hoses for any signs of leaks. Address any leaks immediately.
7. Troubleshooting
This section addresses common issues you might encounter. For problems not listed here, contact technical support.
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Chiller not powering on | No power supply; power cord damaged; main switch off | Check power connection; inspect power cord; ensure main switch is on. |
| Water temperature too high | Insufficient water; blocked condenser; ambient temperature too high; cooling fan malfunction | Check water level and refill; clean condenser and filters; ensure adequate ventilation; check cooling fan operation. |
| Alarm activated | Water flow anomaly; over-temperature; sensor error | Check water circulation; verify water level; consult digital controller manual for specific alarm codes. |
| Water leakage | Loose connections; damaged hoses or seals | Tighten all connections; inspect hoses and seals for damage and replace if necessary. |
