The WOLTU FZ1132 bike rack is designed for easy, tool-free installation. Follow these steps for secure mounting:

  1. Unfold the Rack: Carefully unfold the bike rack to its operational position. Ensure all hinges lock into place.

  7. Final Check: Before loading bikes, vigorously shake the rack to ensure it is stable and does not move excessively. Re-tighten all straps and knobs if necessary. The 4 rubber protective covers should be properly positioned to prevent vehicle scratches.

5. Operating Instructions (Loading Bicycles)

Once the rack is securely installed on your vehicle, you can proceed to load your bicycles.

  1. Prepare Bicycles: Remove any loose items from the bicycles (e.g., water bottles, pumps, bags) that could fall off during transit.
  2. Lift and Position: Lift the first bicycle and place its top tube onto the bike support arms. Position the bicycle so that the frame rests securely in the PVC clamps.
  3. Secure with Clamps: Close the PVC clamps around the bicycle frame. Ensure the clamps are tight and the bike cannot shift or rotate. The straps on the clamps should be used to further secure the bike.
  4. Load Additional Bikes: Repeat the process for additional bicycles, up to a maximum of 3 bikes and 40 kg total weight. Alternate the direction of the bikes (front wheel facing left, then right) to optimize space and prevent handlebars from colliding.
  5. Secure Wheels: Use additional straps (not included, but recommended) to secure the wheels of the bicycles to prevent them from spinning or moving excessively during transit.
  6. Final Security Check: After loading all bikes, perform a final check. Shake each bike individually and the entire rack assembly to ensure everything is stable. Verify that no part of the bikes obstructs vehicle lights or the license plate.

6. Maintenance and Care

Proper maintenance will extend the life of your WOLTU FZ1132 bike rack.

  • Cleaning: Clean the rack with mild soap and water after use, especially if exposed to dirt, salt, or road grime. Rinse thoroughly and dry.
  • Lubrication: Periodically apply a small amount of lubricant to moving parts and hinges to ensure smooth operation.
  • Strap Inspection: Regularly inspect all straps for fraying, cuts, or wear. Replace damaged straps immediately.
  • Rubber Pads: Check the condition of the rubber protective covers. Ensure they are not cracked or worn, as they protect your vehicle's paint.
  • Storage: When not in use, fold the rack for compact storage. Store it in a dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.

7. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your bike rack, refer to the following common problems and solutions:

  • Rack feels unstable:
    • Ensure all six straps are correctly attached and fully tightened.
    • Verify that the adjustment knobs for the support arms are securely tightened.
    • Check that the rack is properly seated on the vehicle's trunk/hatchback, with padded areas making full contact.
  • Bikes are swaying or moving:
    • Ensure the PVC clamps are tightly closed around the bicycle frames.
    • Use the integrated straps on the clamps to further secure the bikes.
    • Consider using additional bungee cords or straps to secure wheels and prevent bike-to-bike contact.
  • Rack is scratching the vehicle:
    • Ensure all 4 rubber protective covers are in place and not damaged.
    • Verify that the rack is installed correctly and not rubbing against unprotected parts of the vehicle.
    • Clean the contact points on both the vehicle and the rack before installation to prevent trapped debris from causing scratches.
  • Difficulty folding/unfolding:
    • Check for any obstructions in the hinge mechanisms.
    • Apply a small amount of lubricant to the hinges if they are stiff.
