Bose Surround Speakers Instruction Manual

Model: 809281-1200

Introduction

The Bose Surround Speakers are designed to enhance your home entertainment experience by providing immersive surround sound. These compact speakers integrate wirelessly with compatible Bose soundbars, delivering a rich audio environment for movies, music, and television. Their small size allows for discreet placement within any room, ensuring that the focus remains on your audio experience.

What's in the Box

Carefully unpack your Bose Surround Speakers. The package should contain the following items:

  • Two (2) Acoustimass cube speakers
  • Two (2) wireless receivers
  • Two (2) AC2 adapters
  • Two (2) power cords
  • Two (2) two-pin speaker cables

Setup

Speaker Placement

For optimal surround sound, position the speakers behind your primary listening area, one to the left and one to the right. Ensure they are placed at an appropriate height, ideally at ear level when seated, or mounted on a wall for a wider soundstage.

Connecting the Speakers

  1. Connect each speaker to its corresponding wireless receiver using the provided two-pin speaker cables.
  2. Plug each wireless receiver's AC2 adapter into a power outlet using the power cords.
  3. Ensure your compatible Bose soundbar is powered on and in setup mode.

Pairing with the Bose Music App

The Bose Music App is essential for completing the setup and configuration of your surround speakers. Download the app from your device's app store.

  1. Open the Bose Music App on your smartphone or tablet.
  2. Follow the on-screen instructions to add your Bose soundbar and then pair the surround speakers. The app will guide you through the wireless connection process.
  3. During setup, the app may prompt you to check for and install any available firmware updates for your soundbar and speakers. It is recommended to perform these updates to ensure optimal performance and compatibility.

Operating

Adjusting Surround Sound Levels

Once paired, the surround speakers' volume and other settings are controlled through the Bose Music App. Navigate to the audio settings within the app to adjust the surround level to your preference. Experiment with different levels to find the most immersive experience for your room and content.

Audio Source Compatibility

For the full immersive effect, ensure that your audio source (e.g., TV, streaming device) is configured to output in a 5.1 surround sound format. The speakers are designed to reproduce discrete surround channels, which are present in 5.1 or higher audio tracks.

Maintenance

To maintain the performance and appearance of your Bose Surround Speakers, follow these guidelines:

  • Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to gently wipe the surfaces of the speakers. Avoid using abrasive cleaners, solvents, or sprays.
  • Environment: Keep the speakers away from excessive heat, humidity, and direct sunlight. Ensure adequate ventilation around the wireless receivers.
  • Liquid Contact: Do not expose the speakers or receivers to liquids. If accidental contact occurs, disconnect power immediately and allow to dry completely before reconnecting.

Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your Bose Surround Speakers, refer to the following common solutions:

Low or No Sound Output

  • Check App Settings: Open the Bose Music App and verify that the surround level is not set too low. Adjust as needed.
  • Audio Format: Confirm that your audio source is outputting in a 5.1 surround sound format. Some content or device settings may default to stereo, which will limit the surround effect.
  • Power Connection: Ensure both wireless receivers are securely plugged into working power outlets.
  • Speaker Cables: Verify that the speaker cables are firmly connected to both the speakers and the wireless receivers.

Disconnection or Static

  • Wireless Range: Ensure the speakers and soundbar are within the specified wireless range (up to 30 feet) and that there are no major obstructions.
  • Interference: Move other wireless devices (e.g., Wi-Fi routers, cordless phones) away from the speakers and soundbar to minimize potential interference.
  • TV eARC Mode: If experiencing frequent disconnections or static, try disabling eARC (Enhanced Audio Return Channel) mode on your television settings. Refer to your TV's manual for instructions.
  • Re-pair Speakers: If issues persist, try re-pairing the surround speakers with your soundbar through the Bose Music App.
