1. Introduction

Thank you for choosing the SCSETC S-1 Motorcycle Helmet Bluetooth Headset. This device is designed to provide clear and reliable wireless communication for motorcyclists and passengers. It allows for hands-free calls, music playback, GPS voice instructions, and intercom communication with other riders. The S-1 features advanced Bluetooth 4.1 technology, CVC 6.0 noise reduction, and a waterproof design for an enhanced riding experience.

2. Package Contents

3. Setup

3.1 Charging the Device

Before first use, fully charge the headset. Connect the MicroUSB charging cable to the headset's charging port and the other end to a USB power adapter (not included) or a computer's USB port. The indicator light will show charging status and turn off when fully charged. A full charge typically takes approximately 2 hours.

3.2 Installing the Headset on Your Helmet

The SCSETC S-1 can be mounted to most motorcycle helmets. There are two primary methods for installation: using the clamp or using adhesive.

  1. Clamp Installation:
    • Loosen the screws on the helmet clamp.
    • Slide the clamp between the outer shell and the inner padding of your helmet, positioning it on the left side.
    • Tighten the screws to secure the clamp firmly.
    • Slide the main headset unit onto the clamp until it clicks into place.
  2. Adhesive Installation:
    • Clean the desired mounting area on the left side of your helmet.
    • Peel off the protective film from the adhesive mount.
    • Firmly press the adhesive mount onto the helmet surface for at least 30 seconds. Allow it to cure for 24 hours before attaching the main unit.
    • Slide the main headset unit onto the adhesive mount until it clicks into place.
  3. Speaker and Microphone Placement:
    • Attach the speakers to the inside of the helmet using the provided adhesive pads, ensuring they are aligned with your ears.
    • Position the microphone in front of your mouth, ensuring it is close enough for clear voice pickup but not obstructing your vision.
    • Route all cables neatly under the helmet padding to avoid interference and ensure comfort.

3.3 Pairing with Your Mobile Phone

To use the headset with your mobile phone, you must first pair them:

  1. Ensure the headset is turned off.
  2. Press and hold the Power/Intercom button for approximately 5-7 seconds until the LED indicator flashes red and blue alternately, indicating pairing mode.
  3. On your mobile phone, enable Bluetooth and search for new devices.
  4. Select "SCS ETC S-1" from the list of available devices.
  5. If prompted, enter the PIN code "0000".
  6. Once paired, the LED indicator will flash blue slowly. You will hear a confirmation tone.

4. Operating Instructions

4.1 Power On/Off

  • Power On: Press and hold the Power/Intercom button for 3 seconds until you hear a tone and the blue LED flashes.
  • Power Off: Press and hold the Power/Intercom button for 5 seconds until you hear a tone and the red LED flashes before turning off.

4.2 Volume Control

Use the Volume Up (+) and Volume Down (-) buttons to adjust the audio level.

  • Volume Up: Press the (+) button.
  • Volume Down: Press the (-) button.

4.3 Phone Functions

  • Answer Call: Press the Power/Intercom button once.
  • Reject Call: Press and hold the Power/Intercom button for 2 seconds.
  • End Call: Press the Power/Intercom button once.
  • Redial Last Number: Double-press the Power/Intercom button.
  • Voice Assistant (Siri/Google Assistant): Press the Power/Intercom button three times.

4.4 Music Playback

  • Play/Pause: Press the Power/Intercom button once.
  • Next Track: Press the (+) button for 2 seconds.
  • Previous Track: Press the (-) button for 2 seconds.

4.5 Intercom Communication

The S-1 supports one-to-one intercom up to 500m and group intercom for up to 6 riders.

  • Initiate Intercom (One-to-One): With both units powered on, short press the Power/Intercom button on one unit to connect to the other.
  • End Intercom: Short press the Power/Intercom button again.
  • Group Intercom: Follow the specific pairing instructions in the separate 'Installation Manual' for multi-unit pairing. Once paired, a short press of the Power/Intercom button will initiate the group conversation.

4.6 FM Radio

The S-1 includes an FM radio function.

  • Turn On/Off FM Radio: Press the 'M' button (often combined with another function, refer to specific button layout on your device).
  • Scan Channels: Press the (+) or (-) button briefly to change stations.

5. Maintenance

5.1 Cleaning

To maintain the performance and appearance of your headset:

  • Wipe the main unit with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners.
  • Ensure the charging port cover is securely closed to prevent dust and moisture ingress.

5.2 Water Resistance

The SCSETC S-1 is designed with IPX6 water resistance, meaning it is protected against high-pressure water jets from any direction. It is suitable for use in rainy conditions but should not be submerged in water.

5.3 Storage

When not in use for extended periods, store the headset in a cool, dry place. It is recommended to charge the battery at least once every three months to maintain battery health.

6. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your SCSETC S-1 headset, please refer to the following common problems and solutions:
