1. Introduction
This manual provides detailed instructions for the assembly, operation, and maintenance of your Arebos Heavy Duty Shelving Unit. Please read these instructions carefully before assembly and use to ensure safe and efficient operation. Keep this manual for future reference.
The Arebos Heavy Duty Shelving Unit is designed for organizing storage in various environments such as utility rooms, basements, garages, or offices. It features a robust galvanized alloy steel frame and five adjustable MDF shelves, offering a total load capacity of 875 kg.
2. Safety Instructions
- Proper Assembly: Ensure all components are correctly assembled according to the instructions. Incorrect assembly can lead to instability and potential hazards.
- Weight Limit: Do not exceed the maximum weight capacity of 175 kg per shelf or 875 kg total for the entire unit. Overloading can cause structural failure and injury.
- Weight Distribution: Distribute weight evenly across the shelves. Avoid placing heavy items solely on one side or at the very front of a shelf.
- Stability: For enhanced stability, especially with heavy loads, consider securing the shelving unit to a wall using appropriate fasteners (not included).
- Floor Protection: Utilize the provided plastic feet to protect your floor from scratches and to enhance stability.
- Children and Pets: Keep children and pets away from the shelving unit during assembly and ensure it is stable before allowing access to the area.
- Sharp Edges: Be cautious of potential sharp edges on metal components during assembly. Wear protective gloves if necessary.
3. Package Contents
Before beginning assembly, verify that all parts are present and undamaged.

4. Assembly Instructions (Plug-in System)
The Arebos shelving unit features a tool-free plug-in system for easy assembly. No screws are required.
4.1. Step-by-Step Assembly
- Prepare the Area: Choose a clear, flat, and stable surface for assembly.
- Attach Plastic Feet: Place the plastic feet onto the bottom ends of the vertical support beams. These protect your floor and provide initial stability.
- Assemble the Base Frame: Connect the horizontal support beams to the vertical beams to form the base of the shelving unit. Ensure the tabs on the horizontal beams securely slot into the corresponding holes on the vertical beams. A rubber mallet (not included) can be used to gently tap connections into place if needed.
- Insert First Shelf: Place an MDF shelf onto the assembled base frame.
- Add Intermediate Levels: Continue to attach horizontal support beams for the desired shelf heights. The shelf height is fully adjustable. Insert the central crossbars into the horizontal beams for each shelf level to enhance stability.
- Place Remaining Shelves: Once the frame for a level is complete, place an MDF shelf onto it. Repeat for all five shelves.
- Complete Top Frame: Finish by attaching the top horizontal support beams to the vertical beams.
- Final Check: Ensure all connections are secure and the unit is stable. Gently push and pull the unit to check for any wobbling.

4.2. Configuration Options
The shelving unit can be assembled in two primary configurations:
- Tall Unit: A single, five-shelf unit measuring 180 cm in height.
- Two Half-Height Workbenches: The unit can be split into two separate, shorter units, each with 2-3 shelves, suitable for use as workbenches.

5. Operation and Use
Once assembled, the shelving unit is ready for use.
- Loading: Place items on the shelves, ensuring that the weight is distributed as evenly as possible. Avoid concentrating heavy loads in one small area.
- Adjusting Shelves: To adjust shelf height, unload the shelf, carefully disassemble the horizontal beams for that level, reposition them to the desired height, and reassemble.
- Environment: The shelving unit is suitable for indoor use in dry environments such as garages, basements, utility rooms, or offices. Avoid prolonged exposure to moisture or extreme temperatures.

6. Maintenance
- Cleaning: Wipe down the metal frame and MDF shelves with a damp cloth. Avoid abrasive cleaners or harsh chemicals that could damage the galvanized finish or MDF.
- Regular Checks: Periodically inspect the shelving unit for any signs of wear, loose connections, or damage. Ensure all beams are securely seated in their slots.
- Rust Prevention: While galvanized, avoid exposing the unit to excessive moisture to prevent rust formation over time.
7. Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Unit is wobbly or unstable. | Connections not fully seated; uneven floor; overloaded. | Ensure all plug-in connections are fully engaged (use a rubber mallet if necessary). Move to a level surface or use shims. Reduce load and redistribute weight. Consider wall anchoring. |
| Difficulty inserting beams. | Misalignment; burrs on metal. | Ensure components are aligned correctly. Gently tap with a rubber mallet. Check for any obstructions or manufacturing imperfections. |
| Shelf sags under load. | Exceeding shelf capacity; uneven weight distribution. | Reduce the weight on the shelf. Redistribute items to ensure even loading. Verify the central crossbar is correctly installed. |
