6. Maintenance
Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and efficient operation of your water heater.
- Cleaning: Disconnect power before cleaning. Wipe the exterior with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
- Descaling: In areas with hard water, limescale can build up inside the tank and on the heating element, reducing efficiency. Descaling should be performed periodically by a qualified technician.
- Inspection: Periodically check for any signs of leaks, corrosion, or damage to the power cord. If any issues are found, disconnect power and contact a qualified technician.
- Draining (if necessary): If the unit needs to be drained (e.g., for extended periods of non-use in freezing conditions), disconnect power, turn off the water supply, and open a hot water tap to release pressure. Then, disconnect the cold water inlet to drain the tank.
