5.2 PEX Clamp Cinch Tool Usage

The iCRIMP PEX Clamp Cinch Tool is used to secure stainless steel clamps onto PEX fittings. The tool features a ratchet mechanism that ensures a complete crimp before releasing.

5.3 Step-by-Step Installation Guide

1. Cut PEX Tubing: Use the PEX pipe cutter to cut the tubing square, ensuring a clean, even edge. Remove any burrs.
2. Prepare for Fitting: Slip the stainless steel cinch clamp over the tubing, then slide the tubing onto the insert fitting.
3. Cinch the Clamp: Position the cinch tool over the clamp ear. Fully squeeze the tool handles until the ratchet mechanism automatically releases, indicating the clamp is fully engaged.
4. Test Connection: Pressure test the tubing and inspect for any leaks before use. A slight gap after crimping is normal.

7. Troubleshooting

7.1 Leaks After Crimping

• Improper Cut: Ensure PEX tubing is cut square and free of burrs.
• Incorrect Clamp Placement: Verify the clamp is positioned correctly over the fitting's barb.
• Incomplete Crimp: Ensure the cinch tool's ratchet mechanism fully releases, indicating a complete crimp. Re-crimp if necessary, or replace the clamp and fitting.
• Damaged Fitting/Tubing: Inspect the PEX tubing and fitting for any damage before installation.

7.2 Cinch Tool Not Releasing

• Full Crimp Not Achieved: Apply more pressure until the ratchet mechanism clicks and releases.
• Tool Jammed: If the tool is stuck due to false operation, locate the release switch (refer to Figure 3 for general location) and push it to disengage.
