4. Setup and Installation
Important: Installation should only be performed by a qualified electrician.
- Preparation: Ensure the main power supply to the circuit where the downlight will be installed is switched off at the consumer unit/fuse box.
- Ceiling Cut-out: Using a suitable hole saw, create a circular cut-out in the ceiling with a diameter of Ø65mm. Ensure there is sufficient clear space above the ceiling for the fitting and wiring, respecting fire safety regulations and insulation requirements.
- Wiring: Connect the electrical supply cables to the quick connectors provided on the downlight fitting. Ensure correct polarity (Live, Neutral, Earth) and secure all connections. The quick connectors facilitate loop-in loop-out wiring.
- Bulb Insertion: Insert a GU10 LED bulb (not included) into the lamp holder of the downlight fitting.
- Mounting: Fold back the spring clips on the sides of the downlight fitting. Carefully push the fitting into the prepared ceiling cut-out. The spring clips will automatically expand and secure the fitting firmly in place against the ceiling.
- Final Check: Ensure the fitting is securely seated and flush with the ceiling surface.
- Power Restoration: Restore power to the circuit at the consumer unit/fuse box and test the downlight.
5. Operating Instructions
The V-TAC VT-702 downlight operates via a standard wall switch connected to its electrical circuit. Once installed and wired correctly, simply toggle the wall switch to turn the light on or off.
- Ensure a compatible GU10 LED bulb is correctly inserted into the fitting.
- The fitting is designed for continuous use within its specified voltage range (220 Volts).
6. Maintenance
Regular maintenance will ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your downlight fitting.
- Cleaning: Disconnect power before cleaning. Wipe the fitting with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents, as these may damage the finish. For stubborn marks, a slightly damp cloth can be used, ensuring no moisture enters the electrical components.
- Bulb Replacement:
- Switch off the power supply to the downlight at the main consumer unit/fuse box.
- Allow the bulb to cool completely if it has been in use.
- Carefully remove the old GU10 bulb by twisting it counter-clockwise.
- Insert the new GU10 LED bulb by aligning the pins with the lamp holder slots and twisting clockwise until secure.
- Restore power and test the new bulb.
- Inspection: Periodically inspect the fitting for any signs of damage or wear. If any damage is observed, disconnect power and consult a qualified electrician.
