Introduction
This manual provides essential instructions for the safe and effective use, setup, operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of your Anest Iwata Supernova LS400-1205 Spray Gun with PCG7D-2 700mL Aluminum Cup. Please read this manual thoroughly before operating the spray gun to ensure optimal performance and safety.
Safety Information
Always prioritize safety when using spray equipment. Failure to follow safety guidelines can result in serious injury or property damage.
- Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE): This includes a respirator, safety glasses, gloves, and protective clothing to prevent inhalation of fumes, eye contact, and skin exposure to paint and solvents.
- Ensure adequate ventilation: Operate the spray gun in a well-ventilated area to disperse fumes and reduce the risk of fire or explosion.
- Keep away from ignition sources: Paints and solvents are often flammable. Do not spray near open flames, pilot lights, or other ignition sources.
- Disconnect air supply before maintenance: Always disconnect the air hose and relieve pressure before cleaning, adjusting, or performing any maintenance on the spray gun.
- Read paint and solvent manufacturer's instructions: Follow all safety warnings and instructions provided by the manufacturers of the coatings and cleaning agents you are using.
- Do not point spray gun at people or animals: The high-pressure spray can cause severe injury.
- Secure work area: Keep children and unauthorized personnel away from the spraying area.

Setup
- Attach the Aluminum Cup: Securely screw the PCG7D-2 700mL Aluminum Cup onto the spray gun body. Ensure a tight seal to prevent leaks.
- Connect Air Hose: Attach your air compressor hose to the air inlet fitting at the base of the spray gun handle. Use an appropriate quick-disconnect fitting if available. Ensure the air pressure regulator is set to zero before connecting.
- Prepare Paint Material: Mix your paint or coating material according to the manufacturer's specifications. Strain the material through a fine mesh filter to remove any particles that could clog the spray gun. Fill the aluminum cup with the prepared material, typically no more than 3/4 full.
- Adjust Air Pressure: With the air hose connected and the spray gun pointed away from yourself and others, slowly increase the air pressure at your regulator to the recommended operating pressure for your specific coating material (refer to paint manufacturer's data sheet or spray gun specifications).
- Initial Adjustments:
- Fluid Control Knob: Located at the rear of the gun, this controls the amount of paint flowing through the nozzle. Start with it fully closed and open it gradually.
- Fan Pattern Control Knob: Typically on the side of the gun, this adjusts the shape of the spray pattern from round to wide fan. Start with a medium setting.
- Air Cap: Ensure the air cap is securely tightened and oriented correctly for the desired spray pattern.

Operating Instructions
- Test Spray: Before spraying your actual workpiece, perform a test spray on a piece of scrap material. Adjust the fluid control, fan pattern, and air pressure until you achieve a consistent, even spray pattern without runs or dry spots.
- Maintain Proper Distance: Hold the spray gun perpendicular to the surface, typically 6-8 inches (15-20 cm) away. Maintain a consistent distance throughout the spray pass.
- Even Strokes: Move the spray gun at a consistent speed, overlapping each pass by approximately 50%. Trigger the gun at the beginning of each pass and release at the end to avoid excessive build-up at the edges.
- Trigger Control: Use a smooth, full pull of the trigger for consistent atomization. Avoid feathering the trigger, which can lead to uneven spray.
- Clean Between Coats: If applying multiple coats, allow adequate flash-off time between coats as recommended by the paint manufacturer. A quick clean of the air cap may be necessary if paint starts to build up.
Maintenance
Proper cleaning and maintenance are crucial for the longevity and performance of your spray gun.
- Immediate Cleaning After Use:
- Empty any remaining paint from the cup.
- Pour a small amount of appropriate cleaning solvent (e.g., lacquer thinner for solvent-based paints, water for water-based paints) into the cup.
- Spray the solvent through the gun until it runs clear. Repeat if necessary.
- Disassembly and Detailed Cleaning:
- Disconnect the air supply.
- Remove the air cap, fluid nozzle, and fluid needle.
- Clean all components thoroughly with the appropriate solvent and a soft brush. Pay special attention to the small holes in the air cap and fluid nozzle. Do not use metal objects to clean these holes, as this can damage them.
- Clean the gun body, especially the paint passages.
- Inspect all seals and O-rings for wear or damage. Replace if necessary.
- Lubrication: Apply a small amount of spray gun lubricant to the fluid needle packing and air valve packing after cleaning to ensure smooth operation and prevent wear.
- Reassembly: Reassemble the spray gun in reverse order of disassembly. Ensure all parts are securely tightened but do not overtighten.
- Storage: Store the clean and dry spray gun in a protective case or a clean, dry environment.
