3. Setup and Installation

Follow these steps to set up your Hosmart Driveway Alarm system:

3.1. Sensor Assembly and Mounting

The motion sensor is designed for outdoor use and can be mounted on a tree or post. Ensure the mounting location provides a clear line of sight for detection and is within the wireless transmission range of the receiver.

3.2. Powering the System

The receiver can be powered using the included AC adapter or by inserting 4 AAA batteries (not included). The sensor requires 4 AA 1.5V batteries (not included) for operation. Ensure batteries are inserted with correct polarity.

3.3. Pairing Sensors with the Receiver

The system allows for pairing of multiple sensors to the receiver. For instructions on pairing a new sensor with an existing alarm system, please watch the video below:

4. Operating Instructions

Once installed and paired, the Hosmart Driveway Alarm system operates automatically. The motion sensor detects movement within its range and sends a signal to the receiver, which then alerts you with light and sound.

4.1. Motion Detection

The sensor can detect movement from humans, cars, and large animals. It features an adjustable sensitivity control to optimize detection based on your environment. The detection range is up to 30 feet.

4.2. Receiver Alerts

The receiver provides alerts through both light indicators and sound. You can choose from over 4 unique chimes. Different chimes can be assigned to different sensors to help you identify the specific zone where motion is detected.

5. Maintenance

To ensure optimal performance and longevity of your Hosmart Driveway Alarm system, regular maintenance is recommended:

  • Battery Replacement: The sensor's batteries can last for approximately one year. Replace them when the low battery indicator on the receiver is active.
  • Cleaning: Periodically clean the sensor's lens and housing to remove dirt, dust, or debris that may obstruct detection. Use a soft, damp cloth.
  • Weather Protection: While weatherproof, ensure the sensor is securely mounted to withstand strong winds and heavy precipitation. Check for any signs of wear or damage to the housing and seals.
  • Obstruction Check: Regularly check the sensor's field of view for any new obstructions (e.g., growing foliage, new structures) that might interfere with its detection capabilities.

6. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your Hosmart Driveway Alarm, consider the following common solutions:

  • No Detection/False Alarms: Adjust the sensor's sensitivity setting. Ensure the sensor is not pointed at moving objects like swaying branches or busy roads if you wish to avoid false alarms. Verify the sensor's line of sight is clear.
  • Poor Range: Ensure the sensor and receiver are within the specified 1/2 mile range (in ideal conditions). Obstacles like thick walls, dense foliage, or large metal structures can reduce range. Try repositioning units for better signal strength.
  • Receiver Not Alerting: Check if the receiver is powered on and has sufficient battery life or is properly plugged into the AC adapter. Verify that the sensor is correctly paired with the receiver (refer to Section 3.3).
  • Low Battery Indicator: Replace the batteries in the sensor promptly when the low battery indicator illuminates on the receiver.
