Setup Guide

Follow these steps to set up your Jura S8 Automatic Coffee Machine for the first time:

1. Unpacking: Carefully remove the machine and all accessories from the packaging. Retain packaging for future transport or storage.
2. Placement: Place the machine on a stable, level surface, away from heat sources and direct sunlight. Ensure adequate ventilation.
3. Water Tank: Remove the water tank, rinse it thoroughly, and fill it with fresh, cold water. Insert the CLARIS Smart filter cartridge into the water tank as instructed by the machine's display. Ensure the filter is properly recognized by the machine's RFID system.
4. Bean Container: Open the aroma preservation cover and fill the bean container with fresh coffee beans.
5. Power Connection: Plug the power cable into the machine and then into a suitable power outlet.
6. Initial Rinse: The machine will guide you through an initial rinse process. Follow the instructions on the touchscreen display.

Operating Instructions

The Jura S8 features an intuitive touchscreen display for easy operation. Here are basic steps for preparing beverages:

1. Power On: Press the power button located on the top right of the machine.
2. Select Beverage: On the touchscreen display, select your desired coffee specialty (e.g., Espresso, Coffee, Cappuccino, Latte Macchiato).
3. Customize (Optional): For many beverages, you can adjust settings such as coffee strength, water volume, and milk foam quantity directly on the screen before brewing.
4. Place Cup: Position your cup(s) under the coffee spout and, if applicable, the milk spout.
5. Start Brewing: Press the start button or the selected beverage icon to begin preparation. The machine will automatically grind the beans, brew the coffee, and froth milk if required.
6. Hot Water Function: To dispense hot water, select the 'Hot Water' option on the display.

Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of your Jura S8. The machine will prompt you for necessary cleaning and maintenance tasks.

• Daily Milk System Cleaning: After preparing milk-based beverages, the machine will prompt you to clean the milk system. This is crucial to prevent blockages and maintain hygiene. Use Jura milk system cleaner for best results.
• Coffee System Cleaning: The machine will indicate when a coffee system cleaning is required. Use Jura cleaning tablets and follow the on-screen instructions. This typically occurs after approximately 180 preparations or 80 switch-on rinses.
• Filter Replacement: The CLARIS Smart filter cartridge needs to be replaced regularly, typically after 50 liters of water or 2 months, whichever comes first. The machine's RFID system will detect the filter and prompt for replacement. Using non-Jura filters or attempting to bypass the RFID system may lead to issues and void warranty.
• Descaling: If you operate the machine without a CLARIS Smart filter, descaling will be necessary. The machine will prompt you when descaling is due. Use Jura descaling tablets and follow the instructions carefully.
• Drip Tray and Coffee Grounds Container: Empty and clean the drip tray and coffee grounds container daily or when prompted by the machine.
• Bean Container Cleaning: Periodically clean the bean container to remove any oily residue from coffee beans.
