1. Introduction

This manual provides comprehensive instructions for the installation, operation, and maintenance of your VIMAR Single-Family Video Door Entry Kit. This kit is designed to enhance security and communication for your home, featuring a hands-free monitor and a robust outdoor entrance panel.

The kit includes a 7-inch color LCD TFT monitor (Model Elvox K40912) with a capacitive-touch keypad for intuitive control, and a metal surface-mounting audio/video entrance panel (Model Elvox 40920 P1) equipped with a wide-angle camera and night vision capabilities. A multi-plug power supply is also included for convenience.

Please read this manual thoroughly before installation and use to ensure proper functioning and to maximize the lifespan of your product.

2. Safety Information

Always adhere to local electrical codes and regulations during installation. Installation should only be performed by qualified personnel.

  • Power Disconnection: Always disconnect power to the installation area before beginning any wiring or maintenance work.
  • Wiring: Use only the specified 2-core non-polarized wire for connections. Ensure all connections are secure and properly insulated.
  • Environmental Conditions: The outdoor panel is designed for outdoor use (IP44, IK07 rated), but avoid direct exposure to extreme weather conditions beyond its operating temperature range (-25°C to +55°C).
  • Cleaning: Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents on any part of the system. Use a soft, damp cloth for cleaning.
  • Modifications: Do not attempt to modify or repair the unit yourself. Refer all servicing to qualified service personnel.

4. Setup and Installation

This section outlines the steps for installing your video intercom system.

4.1 Wiring Requirements

  • Only a 2-core non-polarized wire is required for the entire wiring of the kit.
  • Maximum distance between the entrance panel and the last monitor is 100m when using a 2x1mm² cable.

4.2 System Expansion

  • Up to 3 Elvox K40912 monitors can be connected per entrance panel.
  • Up to 2 Elvox 40920 P1 entrance panels can be connected to the system.

4.3 Electric Door Lock Connection

A 12VDC (2A for 0.5-10s) electric door lock (not included) can be connected directly to the entrance panel without requiring additional hardware.

5. Operating Instructions

This section details the functions and operation of your VIMAR video intercom system.

5.1 Monitor Functions (Elvox K40912)

The 7-inch LCD TFT display monitor features a capacitive-touch keyboard for various functions:

  • Talk/Listen: Initiate and end conversations with visitors at the entrance panel.
  • Door Lock Release: Remotely unlock the connected electric door lock.
  • Automated Gate Opening: Activate automated gate systems (if connected).
  • Ringtone Mute: Silence the incoming call ringtone.
  • Intercom Calls: Make calls between multiple connected indoor monitors.

The monitor also includes an electronic ringtone with various melodies and controls for display brightness, contrast, and color settings.

5.2 Entrance Panel Functions (Elvox 40920 P1)

The entrance panel is equipped with a wide-angle camera (120° horizontal coverage, 1000 TV line resolution) and white LEDs for clear night vision. It features a single call button and a large backlit nameplate holder.

6. Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of your video intercom system.

  • Cleaning the Monitor: Use a soft, dry, lint-free cloth to clean the monitor screen and casing. For stubborn marks, slightly dampen the cloth with water. Avoid spraying liquids directly onto the monitor.
  • Cleaning the Entrance Panel: Wipe the exterior of the entrance panel with a soft, damp cloth. Ensure the camera lens and LED lights are free from dirt and obstructions for clear visibility.
  • Inspections: Periodically check all visible wiring for any signs of wear or damage. Ensure all connections remain secure.

7. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your VIMAR video intercom kit, refer to the following common troubleshooting steps:
