Instruction Manual

1. Introduction and Product Overview

These axion 5x5 cm electrodes are designed for use with TENS and EMS electro-stimulators. They provide effective pain relief and muscle stimulation, suitable for both professional and home use. The electrodes are self-adhesive, reusable, and ensure excellent conductivity for electrotherapy and electrostimulation applications.

Each set includes 20 replacement electrodes, packaged with protective films and resealable bags for optimal storage and hygiene.

2. Compatibility

These electrodes feature a 3.75 mm snap connector, ensuring broad compatibility with various electro-stimulators.

2.1 Compatible Devices:

  • COMPEX models: SP 2.0, SP 4.0, SP 6.0, SP 8.0, FIT 1.0, FIT 3.0, MI-FITNESS, FULL FITNESS, MI-SPORT, VITALITY, ENERGY MI-READY, PERFORMANCE MI-READY, SPORT ELITE, MI-SPORT 500, MI-FITNESS TRAINER.
  • Chattanooga devices.

2.2 Non-Compatible Devices:

  • axion (certain models), Beurer, Sanitas, Omron.

If you are unsure about the compatibility with your specific electro-stimulator, please consult your device's manual or contact customer support.

3. Product Features and Design

axion electrodes are constructed with multiple layers to ensure optimal performance, comfort, and safety:

  • Soft Insulating Layer: Provides comfort and protection.
  • Special Carbon Film: Ensures uniform impulse distribution across the entire electrode surface.
  • Biocompatible Gel Layer: Applied using an innovative process, this gel provides secure adhesion to the skin, reduces impedance, and is non-irritating.
  • Protective Film: A removable film that protects the gel layer when not in use, ensuring the electrodes remain fresh and adhesive.

4. Setup and Application

4.1 Preparation:

  1. Clean Skin: Before applying the electrodes, thoroughly wash the skin area where the session will take place with soap and water. Ensure the skin is dry and free of oils, lotions, or creams to maximize adhesion and conductivity.
  2. Unpack: The electrodes come in a sealed bag to ensure they are new and unused. Carefully open the packaging.

4.2 Application:

  1. Remove Protective Film: Gently peel the electrode from its protective film. Retain the film for storage.
  2. Connect: Attach the snap connector of your electro-stimulator's lead wire to the electrode.
  3. Apply to Skin: Place the electrode firmly onto the prepared skin area. Ensure full contact to prevent discomfort or uneven stimulation.
  4. Placement: Refer to your electro-stimulator's manual or a healthcare professional for recommended electrode placement for your specific therapy or muscle group.

5. Maintenance and Storage

Proper care and storage will extend the lifespan and effectiveness of your electrodes:

  • Reapply Protective Film: After each use, carefully remove the electrodes from your skin and reapply them to their original protective film.
  • Reseal Bag: Store the electrodes with their protective films in the resealable bag provided. This prevents drying and contamination.
  • Cleanliness: Ensure the skin is clean before application to prevent debris from accumulating on the gel, which can reduce adhesion.
  • Cool Storage: Storing electrodes in a cool environment, such as a refrigerator, can help prolong their adhesive properties.
  • Avoid Extreme Temperatures: Do not expose electrodes to direct sunlight or extreme heat, as this can damage the gel.

5.1 Enhancing Conductivity:

For enhanced conductivity and to potentially extend electrode life, a specialized contact gel can be used. Apply a small amount of gel to the electrode surface before application.

6. Troubleshooting

6.1 Loss of Adhesion:

If electrodes begin to lose their adhesive properties or peel off during use, consider the following:

  • Skin Preparation: Ensure the skin is thoroughly cleaned and dry before each application. Residues from lotions, oils, or sweat can significantly reduce adhesion.
  • Storage: Verify that electrodes are stored correctly on their protective film in a sealed bag and in a cool environment. Improper storage can cause the gel to dry out.
  • Electrode Lifespan: Electrodes have a limited lifespan, typically lasting for several uses (e.g., 8-10 applications) depending on skin type, preparation, and storage. If adhesion is consistently poor despite proper care, it may be time to replace them.

6.2 Uneven or Weak Stimulation:

If you experience uneven or weak stimulation, check the following:

  • Full Skin Contact: Ensure the entire surface of the electrode is in firm contact with the skin.
  • Lead Wire Connection: Verify that the snap connector is securely attached to the electrode.
  • Electrode Condition: Inspect electrodes for any damage or excessive dryness. Replace if necessary.
