Safety Information

Always adhere to local wiring regulations and safety standards. Installation should only be carried out by a qualified electrician if you are unsure. Disconnect power before installation or maintenance.

  • Ensure the correct 12V constant voltage driver is used.
  • Do not exceed the maximum wattage rating of the driver.
  • Avoid bending the LED strip sharply, as this can damage the circuit.
  • Do not connect the LED strip directly to mains voltage (230V AC).
  • This product is IP20 rated, suitable for indoor dry locations only. Do not expose to moisture or water.
  • Ensure proper ventilation around the LED strip and driver to prevent overheating.

Setup and Installation

Required Components (Sold Separately):

  • 12V Constant Voltage LED Driver (appropriate wattage for the length of flex used).
  • Appropriate control gear for dimming (if dimming functionality is desired).
  • Connectors (if cutting and rejoining sections).

Installation Steps:

  1. Plan Layout: Determine the desired length and path for the LED flex. Measure carefully.
  2. Cutting (if necessary): The LED flex can be cut at designated marks (every 50mm) indicated by a copper pad. Use sharp scissors to ensure a clean cut.

  3. Prepare Surface: Ensure the mounting surface is clean, dry, and smooth. Remove any dust, grease, or debris.
  4. Apply Flex: Peel off the protective backing from the 3M self-adhesive tape on the back of the LED flex. Carefully press the flex onto the desired surface, ensuring firm and even adhesion along its entire length.
  5. Connect to Driver: Connect the positive (+) and negative (-) wires of the LED flex to the corresponding output terminals of the 12V constant voltage LED driver. Ensure polarity is correct.
  6. Power Connection: Connect the input side of the 12V LED driver to the mains power supply (230V AC) via a suitable switch or power outlet.
  7. Test: Once all connections are secure, switch on the power to test the LED flex.

Operating Instructions

The Knightsbridge LED Flex operates immediately upon receiving power from the connected 12V constant voltage driver.

  • Switching On/Off: Control the power to the LED flex using the switch connected to the 12V LED driver's mains input.
  • Dimming (Optional): If an appropriate dimmable 12V constant voltage driver and compatible dimmer switch are installed, the brightness of the LED flex can be adjusted. Refer to the dimmer's specific instructions for operation.

Maintenance

The Knightsbridge LED Flex requires minimal maintenance. Ensure power is disconnected before performing any cleaning or inspection.

  • Cleaning: Gently wipe the surface of the LED flex with a soft, dry, lint-free cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners, solvents, or excessive moisture.
  • Inspection: Periodically check the LED flex for any signs of damage, such as cuts, cracks, or loose connections. If damage is found, disconnect power immediately and replace the affected section or the entire strip.
  • Adhesion: Ensure the adhesive tape remains firmly attached to the mounting surface. If sections become loose, re-secure them with appropriate adhesive suitable for the surface.

Troubleshooting

ProblemPossible CauseSolution
LED flex does not light up.No power to the driver.
Incorrect wiring/polarity.
Faulty driver.
Damaged LED flex.
Check power supply and switch.
Verify positive (+) and negative (-) connections.
Test driver output voltage.
Inspect flex for visible damage.
Sections of LED flex are not lighting.Damaged section of flex.
Poor connection at cut point.
Isolate and replace the damaged section.
Ensure connectors are properly seated or soldered.
LEDs are flickering or dim.Insufficient power from driver.
Voltage drop over long runs.
Incompatible dimmer.
Ensure driver wattage is sufficient for the total length.
Use thicker gauge wire for longer runs or shorter flex lengths.
Verify dimmer compatibility with 12V LED products.
LED flex gets excessively hot.Poor ventilation.
