Familiarize yourself with the controller's interface:

  • Display: Shows quantitative value, flow rate, temperature, and status icons.
  • MENU Button: Accesses settings and configuration options.
  • SET Button: Confirms selections and enters edit mode.
  • CLEAR Button: Clears current readings or exits a menu.
  • Up/Down Arrows: Navigate menus and adjust values.
  • RUN/STOP Button: Initiates or halts the flow control process.
  • RUN/STOP Indicators: LEDs indicating operational status.

5.2. Wiring Diagram

The DFC15 controller connects to a flow sensor, a temperature sensor, and an optional solenoid valve. Refer to the diagram below for correct wiring:

  1. Connect the flow sensor to the designated input on the controller. Ensure the flow direction matches the sensor's arrow.
  2. Connect the temperature sensor to its dedicated port. The M8 thread sensor should be installed in a suitable fitting in the liquid path.
  3. If using quantitative control, connect the 12VDC solenoid valve to the controller's output terminals. Observe polarity.
  4. Connect the provided 12VDC power adapter to the controller's power input.

Note: Ensure all connections are secure before applying power.

5.3. Mounting the Controller

The controller can be mounted using the integrated eyelet on the back. Choose a location that is dry, stable, and allows for easy viewing of the display and access to buttons.

6. Operating Instructions

6.1. Power On and Initial Display

Once powered on, the DFC15 will display the current total volume, real-time flow rate, and temperature. The default units are Liters (L) and Liters Per Minute (LPM).

6.2. Setting Quantitative Control (Batch Mode)

  1. Press the MENU button to enter the settings menu.
  2. Navigate using the Up/Down arrows to find the "Quantitative Setting" or similar option.
  3. Press SET to enter the quantitative value adjustment.
  4. Use the Up/Down arrows to set your desired volume (e.g., 50 Liters). Press SET to confirm each digit.
  5. Once the value is set, press MENU to exit the setting.
  6. To start the quantitative dispense, press the RUN/STOP button. The controller will activate the solenoid valve and stop when the set volume is reached.
  7. To stop a dispense manually, press the RUN/STOP button again.

6.3. Adjusting K-Value (Calibration)

The K-value is a calibration factor that allows the controller to accurately measure flow from different sensors. This value may need adjustment for precise readings.

  1. Press the MENU button.
  2. Navigate to the "K-Value Setting" or "Calibration" option.
  3. Press SET to adjust the K-value.
  4. Use the Up/Down arrows to change the value. A higher K-value means the sensor is reporting more pulses per unit of volume.
  5. To calibrate, dispense a known volume of liquid (e.g., 10 liters) and compare it to the controller's reading. Adjust the K-value until the controller's reading matches the actual dispensed volume.
  6. Press SET to confirm the new K-value, then MENU to exit.

Tip: Start with the default K-value or a value provided with your flow sensor. Fine-tune as needed.

6.4. Changing Units (Liters/Gallons, Celsius/Fahrenheit)

The DFC15 allows you to switch between different measurement units.

  • Volume/Flow Rate Units: Access the "Unit Setting" in the MENU to toggle between Liters (L) and Gallons (G) for total volume and LPM/GPM for flow rate.
  • Temperature Units: The temperature display can be switched between Celsius (°C) and Fahrenheit (°F) via a setting in the MENU.

6.5. Resetting Total Volume

To clear the accumulated total volume, press the CLEAR button. Confirm the reset if prompted.

7. Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and accuracy of your DFC15 controller and associated sensors.

  • Cleaning: Wipe the controller's display and casing with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid abrasive cleaners or solvents.
  • Sensor Inspection: Periodically check the flow sensor and temperature sensor for any debris, blockages, or damage. Clean as necessary according to the sensor manufacturer's instructions.
  • Connection Check: Ensure all electrical connections remain secure and free from corrosion.
  • Recalibration: If you suspect inaccuracies or after significant changes in your system (e.g., replacing a sensor), perform a K-value recalibration as described in Section 6.3.
  • Storage: If storing the unit for an extended period, disconnect power and store in a dry, cool environment.

8. Troubleshooting

This section addresses common issues you might encounter with your DFC15 controller.

ProblemPossible CauseSolution
Controller does not power on.No power, faulty adapter, loose connection.Check power outlet. Ensure power adapter is correctly connected. Test adapter if possible.
Flow rate/volume display is 0 or inaccurate.Flow sensor not connected, faulty sensor, K-value incorrect, no flow.Verify flow sensor connection. Check for blockages in the flow path. Recalibrate K-value (Section 6.3). Ensure liquid is flowing.
Solenoid valve does not open/close.Incorrect wiring, faulty valve, quantitative setting not enabled.Check solenoid valve wiring and polarity. Ensure quantitative control is set and activated. Test valve independently if possible.
Temperature reading is incorrect.Temperature sensor not connected, faulty sensor, sensor not immersed.Verify temperature sensor connection. Ensure sensor is properly installed in the liquid.
Display backlight turns off too quickly.Default setting. This is a power-saving feature. There may be a setting in the menu to adjust backlight timeout, consult the full user manual (PDF) if available.
