1. Introduction

3. Setup

3.1 Placement

The YAS-108 Sound Bar offers flexible placement options:

  • On a Shelf/TV Stand: Place the sound bar directly in front of your TV. Ensure it does not obstruct the TV's remote sensor.
  • Wall Mounting: The sound bar can be rotated for a low-profile wall mount. Refer to the detailed wall mounting instructions in the separate installation guide (if provided) for secure attachment.

3.2 Connections

Connect the sound bar to your television using one of the following methods:

  • HDMI (ARC): For optimal audio quality and control, connect an HDMI cable from the sound bar's HDMI OUT (ARC) port to your TV's HDMI ARC port. This allows your TV remote to control the sound bar's power and volume.
  • Optical: If your TV does not have an HDMI ARC port, connect an optical digital cable from the sound bar's OPTICAL IN port to your TV's optical digital output.
  • Analog (AUX): For devices with analog audio output, connect a 3.5mm stereo mini-jack cable from the sound bar's ANALOG IN port to the device's audio output.

3.3 Power Connection

After connecting the audio cables, plug the sound bar's power cord into an AC outlet.

4. Operating the Sound Bar

4.1 Basic Controls

The sound bar can be controlled using the included remote control or the touch-sensitive buttons on the top panel.

  • Power: Press the power button on the remote or sound bar to turn it on or off.
  • Input Selection: Use the HDMI, TV, ANALOG, or BLUETOOTH buttons on the remote or sound bar to select the desired audio input.
  • Volume Control: Adjust the main volume using the VOLUME +/- buttons on the remote.
  • Mute: Press the MUTE button to temporarily silence the audio.
  • Subwoofer Volume: Adjust the subwoofer level using the SUBWOOFER +/- buttons on the remote.

4.2 Bluetooth Pairing

To stream audio wirelessly from a mobile device:

  1. Press the BLUETOOTH button on the remote or sound bar to select the Bluetooth input. The Bluetooth indicator will flash.
  2. On your mobile device, enable Bluetooth and search for available devices.
  3. Select "YAS-108 Yamaha" from the list of devices.
  4. Once paired, the Bluetooth indicator on the sound bar will glow steadily.

4.3 Sound Modes

Utilize the following sound modes for an optimized listening experience:

  • SURROUND / STEREO: Switch between surround sound and stereo playback.
  • 3D SURROUND (DTS Virtual:X): Activates virtual 3D surround sound for an immersive audio experience.
  • CLEAR VOICE: Enhances dialogue clarity, making voices easier to hear in movies and TV shows.
  • BASS EXTENSION: Boosts low-frequency response for a more impactful bass.

5. Maintenance

To ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your YAS-108 Sound Bar, follow these simple maintenance guidelines:

  • Cleaning: Gently wipe the exterior surfaces with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid using abrasive cleaners, waxes, or solvents as they may damage the finish.
  • Ventilation: Ensure that the ventilation openings are not blocked. Proper airflow prevents overheating.
  • Storage: If storing the unit for an extended period, disconnect it from the power outlet and store it in a cool, dry place.

6. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your sound bar, refer to the following common solutions:

  • Clear the sound bar from your device's Bluetooth history and try pairing again.
Remote control not working.
  • Check if the battery (1 CR2) is correctly inserted and not depleted.
  • Ensure there are no obstructions between the remote and the sound bar's sensor.
  • Point the remote directly at the sound bar.
Sound is distorted or unclear.
  • Adjust the volume levels.
  • Check the audio source for quality issues.
  • Try disabling sound modes like DTS Virtual:X or Bass Extension to see if it improves clarity.
  • Ensure cables are not damaged or loose.
