Setup & Installation
Ensure your refrigerator is compatible with the GF-MWF filter. This filter is designed as a premium replacement for various models, including GE MWF, SmartWater MWFP, MWFA, GWF, HDX FMG-1, WFC1201, RWF1060, 197D6321P006, and Kenmore 9991.

Installation Steps:
- Locate the old filter: Refer to your refrigerator's manual for the exact location of the water filter.
- Remove the old filter: Twist the old filter counter-clockwise until it unlocks and pull it out. Be prepared for a small amount of water to drip.
- Prepare the new filter: Remove the protective cap from the new GLACIER FRESH GF-MWF filter.
- Install the new filter: Insert the new filter into the refrigerator's filter housing. Push it firmly and twist clockwise until it locks into place. The 'Twist and Lock Design' ensures a precise, leak-proof fit without tools.
- Flush the system: After installation, dispense approximately 1 to 3 gallons of water through the refrigerator's dispenser. This flushes out air and any loose carbon particles, ensuring clear, fresh-tasting water.
- Reset filter indicator: If your refrigerator has a filter indicator light, reset it according to your appliance's instructions.

Maintenance
For optimal filtration performance and water quality, the water filter cartridge should be replaced every six months or after filtering 300 gallons of water, whichever comes first.

Troubleshooting
- Slow Water Flow: If you experience slower water output compared to previous filters, this can be normal due to the precise filtering variable of 0.5 microns. If flow is excessively slow, ensure the filter is correctly seated and not overtightened.
- Black Particles or Cloudy Water: It is normal to observe some black particles (carbon dust) or cloudy water immediately after installing a new filter. This will clear after flushing 1-3 gallons of water through the dispenser.
- Leaking: Ensure the filter is properly aligned and twisted securely into the housing. The 'Twist and Lock Design' is intended to prevent leaks. If leaking persists, remove and re-install the filter, checking for any damage to the O-rings.
- Unusual Taste or Odor: If water still has an unusual taste or odor after flushing, ensure the filter is correctly installed and has been flushed adequately. If issues persist, contact customer support.
