Important Safeguards
When using electrical appliances, basic safety precautions should always be followed to reduce the risk of fire, electric shock, and/or injury to persons, including the following:
- Read all instructions.
- Do not touch hot surfaces. Use handles or knobs.
- To protect against electrical shock, do not immerse cord, plugs, or heating unit in water or other liquid.
- Close supervision is necessary when any appliance is used by or near children.
- Unplug from outlet when not in use and before cleaning. Allow to cool before putting on or taking off parts.
- Do not operate any appliance with a damaged cord or plug or after the appliance malfunctions or has been damaged in any manner.
- The use of accessory attachments not recommended by the appliance manufacturer may cause injuries.
- Do not use outdoors.
- Do not let cord hang over edge of table or counter, or touch hot surfaces.
- Do not place on or near a hot gas or electric burner, or in a heated oven.
- Extreme caution must be used when moving an appliance containing hot oil or other hot liquids.
- Always attach plug to appliance first, then plug cord into the wall outlet. To disconnect, turn any control to "OFF", then remove plug from wall outlet.
- Do not use appliance for other than intended use.
- This appliance has a polarized plug (one blade is wider than the other). To reduce the risk of electric shock, this plug is intended to fit into a polarized outlet only one way. If the plug does not fit fully into the outlet, reverse the plug. If it still does not fit, contact a qualified electrician. Do not attempt to modify the plug in any way.
- A short power-supply cord is provided to reduce the risk resulting from becoming entangled in or tripping over a longer cord.
- Longer detachable power-supply cords or extension cords are available and may be used if care is exercised in their use.
- If a long detachable power-supply cord or extension cord is used:
- The marked electrical rating of the detachable power-supply cord or extension cord should be at least as great as the electrical rating of the appliance.
- If the appliance is of the grounded type, the extension cord should be a grounding-type 3-wire cord.
- The longer cord should be arranged so that it will not drape over the countertop or tabletop where it can be pulled on by children or tripped over.
- Proposition 65 Warning: This product may contain chemicals known to the State of California to cause cancer and/or birth defects or other reproductive harm.

Setup and First Use
- Unpack: Carefully remove all packaging materials and promotional labels from the slow cooker.
- Clean: Wash the removable ceramic pot and glass lid in warm, soapy water. Rinse thoroughly and dry completely. The heating base can be wiped with a damp cloth. Do not immerse the heating base in water.
- Assemble: Place the clean ceramic pot into the heating base. Position the glass lid securely on top of the ceramic pot.
- Placement: Place the slow cooker on a flat, stable, heat-resistant surface, away from walls or cabinets to allow for proper ventilation.
- Power: Ensure the control knob is in the "OFF" position before plugging the appliance into a standard 220V AC electrical outlet.
Operating Instructions
The Brentwood Select Slow Cooker offers three heat settings for versatile cooking:
- Prepare Ingredients: Place your desired ingredients into the removable ceramic pot. Do not overfill; leave at least one inch of space from the rim.
- Select Setting: Turn the control knob to your desired cooking setting:
- LOW: For slow, gentle cooking over a longer period (typically 6-8 hours).
- HIGH: For faster cooking (typically 3-4 hours).
- WARM: To keep cooked food at a serving temperature. Do not use the WARM setting for cooking raw food.
- Cover: Place the tempered glass lid securely on the ceramic pot. Avoid lifting the lid frequently during cooking, as this releases heat and extends cooking time.
- Cooking Time: Follow your recipe's recommended cooking times. Adjust as necessary based on your specific ingredients and desired doneness.
- Finish Cooking: Once cooking is complete, turn the control knob to the "OFF" position and unplug the slow cooker from the outlet.
- Serve: Carefully remove the lid, using oven mitts if necessary. The removable ceramic pot can be used for serving.
Note: The exterior of the slow cooker will become warm during operation. Always use the cool-touch handles for moving the appliance.
Maintenance and Cleaning
Proper cleaning ensures the longevity and performance of your slow cooker.
- Unplug and Cool: Always unplug the slow cooker and allow it to cool completely before cleaning.
- Ceramic Pot and Lid: The removable ceramic pot and tempered glass lid are dishwasher safe. Alternatively, they can be washed by hand with warm, soapy water. Avoid abrasive cleaners or scouring pads that could damage the surface.
- Heating Base: Wipe the exterior of the heating base with a soft, damp cloth. Do not immerse the heating base in water or any other liquid. Ensure all parts are dry before storing or next use.
- Storage: Store the slow cooker with the lid and ceramic pot inside the heating base in a dry, clean place.
