Operating Instructions
The iSTIM EV-804 offers both TENS and EMS functionalities with various modes and adjustable settings.
Device Overview and Controls

This diagram illustrates the main controls of the iSTIM EV-804 unit. Key controls include:
- CH1 & CH2 Power Intensity Control: Rotary dials on top for adjusting stimulation intensity for each channel.
- Increase or Decrease Setting Value: Up (▲) and Down (▼) arrow buttons to adjust parameters.
- MODE Button: Cycles through available TENS and EMS modes.
- SET Button: Used to select and confirm settings for Pulse Width/Rate and Treatment Time.
Power On/Off
To turn the unit on, slowly rotate either the CH1 or CH2 intensity dial clockwise until you hear a click and the display illuminates. To turn off, rotate both intensity dials counter-clockwise until they click off.
Selecting TENS or EMS Mode
The iSTIM EV-804 offers 7 modes in total: 5 TENS modes and 2 EMS modes. Use the MODE button to cycle through the available programs. The display will indicate whether TENS or EMS mode is active, along with the specific program number.

This image highlights the key features of the iSTIM EV-804, including its 7 modes (5 TENS, 2 EMS) and 24 programs, 2 independent channels for multiple massage areas, TENS+EMS combo functionality, and adjustable settings for pulse rate, pulse width, intensity, and treatment time.
Adjusting Parameters
After selecting a mode, you can adjust specific parameters:
- Pulse Rate (Frequency): Press the SET button to highlight the pulse rate. Use the Up/Down arrows to adjust the frequency (Hz).
- Pulse Width: Press the SET button again to highlight the pulse width. Use the Up/Down arrows to adjust the pulse width (µs).
- Treatment Time: Press the SET button a third time to highlight the treatment time. Use the Up/Down arrows to set the desired duration (minutes).
- Intensity: Once parameters are set, slowly increase the intensity for each channel using the respective rotary dials (CH1 and CH2) until you feel a comfortable, strong sensation. Do not increase to an uncomfortable level.
Electrode Placement
Proper electrode placement is crucial for effective treatment. Refer to the included Electrode Placement Guide for specific recommendations for different body parts and conditions. General guidelines include:
- Place electrodes on clean, dry, intact skin.
- Ensure electrodes are at least one inch apart.
- For TENS, place electrodes around or near the painful area.
- For EMS, place electrodes over the muscle belly you wish to stimulate.
- Avoid placing electrodes directly over joints, bony prominences, or areas with reduced sensation.

This image provides visual examples of TENS and EMS applications for various body areas, including the neck, back, legs, and abdomen, demonstrating how the unit can be used for drug-free pain relief and muscle training/toning.
Maintenance
Proper maintenance ensures the longevity and effectiveness of your iSTIM EV-804 unit and electrodes.
