Installation

The KING KF1001 Falcon requires rooftop installation. Careful planning of component locations and proper sealing are crucial for optimal performance and longevity. Refer to the detailed installation video below for a comprehensive guide.

Installation Overview Video

An instructional video demonstrating the installation process for the KING Falcon WiFi Antenna. This video covers determining component locations, mounting the antenna, and connecting interior components.

Key Installation Steps:

  1. Determine Component Locations:
    • Ensure adequate space for the antenna head to rotate freely. A 24-inch diameter circle is required for rotation.
    • The antenna head must not rotate over the edge of the roof.
    • Orient the antenna so the coax cable exits the base towards the rear of the vehicle.
    • Locate the antenna such that the coax cable can reach the power inserter and KING WiFiMax inside the vehicle.
    • The power inserter and KING WiFiMax require a 110 VAC power source.
    • Note: Do not locate the interior components in a slide-out section of the vehicle.
  2. Mount the Antenna:
    • Drill a minimum 5/16" hole through the roof where the cable will enter the vehicle.
    • Feed the cable through the hole. Important: The cable has different connectors on each end.
    • Adjust the cable position to reach both the antenna and interior components.
    • Route the cable under the circuit board within the antenna base. Connect the cable to the circuit board. Keep as large a bend as possible in the cable. Caution: Do not touch the circuit board. Hold the cable by the connector, not by the cable. Push the cable onto the circuit board connector until it "clicks."
    • Fill the coax channel with ROOF-COMPATIBLE sealant.
    • Apply sealant around the perimeter of the base.
    • Place the antenna in position. Caution: Do not pinch the cable under the edge of the base.
    • Fasten the antenna to the roof with six (6) fasteners. The installer must determine the best fasteners to use based on the roof material.
    • Seal the six (6) fastener heads. Ensure the coax port and perimeter are fully sealed as well.
    • Seal the roof hole where the cable enters so it is completely waterproof.
    • Secure the cable to the roof every 12-18 inches.
  3. Connect Interior Components:
    • If desired, install the included white or black wall plate.
    • Connect the cable from the antenna to the power inserter.
    • Connect the power inserter to the KING WiFiMax with the included short cable.
    • Plug in the power inserter and KING WiFiMax to a 110 VAC power source.

Operation

The KING Falcon system is designed for user-friendly operation via the free KING Wi-Fi App, available for Android and iOS devices. Once installed and powered, the system will automatically search for available Wi-Fi networks. Use the app to select your desired network, and the antenna will automatically orient itself for optimal signal reception. This allows you to effortlessly connect all your Wi-Fi enabled devices, such as smartphones, tablets, laptops, and smart TVs, to a single extended network within your vehicle.

Note: A Wi-Fi source is required for the KING Falcon to function. The KING Falcon antenna cannot be used as a standalone Wi-Fi hotspot.
