Introduction

This manual provides comprehensive instructions for the installation and maintenance of the ICT Billet LS1 1998-2002 Camaro Power Steering Pump Bracket Kit. This kit is designed to relocate the power steering pump to the stock Camaro location, compatible with 1998-2002 LS1 Camaro power steering pumps and pulleys. It is suitable for all GM LS series engines.

Installation Instructions

Follow these steps for proper installation of the power steering pump bracket kit. For a visual guide, please refer to the official installation video below or the provided PDF manual.

Important: Ensure the engine is cool and disconnected from the battery before beginning installation. Always use appropriate safety gear.

Step 1: Install the Rear Mounting Plate

Attach the rear mounting plate to the engine block. This plate is secured using three 10mm flat-head bolts and corresponding spacers. Run the bolts through the plate, through the spacers, and into the cylinder head.

Step 2: Attach Front Support Plate to Power Steering Pump

Secure the front support plate to the power steering pump. Use one 8mm bolt through the center hole of the front support plate and into the pump casing. You can use two longer 8mm bolts to align the plate while tightening the center bolt. Once aligned, remove the two longer bolts.

Step 3: Mount Power Steering Pump Assembly to Rear Plate

With the front support plate attached to the pump, mount the entire power steering pump assembly to the previously installed rear mounting plate. Use two 8mm bolts through the front plate, through the pump, and into the rear mounting plate. Finally, use the third 8mm bolt with its support spacer to secure the bottom of the pump assembly to the rear plate.

Step 4: Connect Pressure and Return Lines, Install Pulley

Once the pump is securely mounted, connect the pressure and return lines to the power steering pump. Ensure all connections are tight and free of leaks. Finally, install the power steering pulley onto the pump shaft. Refer to your vehicle's service manual for specific torque specifications for all bolts.

Troubleshooting

• Belt Squeal/Misalignment: If you experience belt squeal or notice pulley misalignment after installation, double-check that all components are correctly seated and tightened. Verify that the correct crank pulley spacing is used for your application (refer to Figure 7). Ensure the power steering pump pulley is fully pressed onto the pump shaft.
• Power Steering Line Fitment Issues: If power steering lines do not fit correctly, ensure they are routed without excessive bending or interference. Some custom applications may require minor adjustments or aftermarket lines.
• Loose Components: Re-torque all bolts to manufacturer specifications. Loose bolts can lead to vibration, noise, and premature wear.
