Carefully unpack your Polk Audio Command Bar system. The package should contain the following items:

  • Polk Audio Command Bar (Soundbar)
  • Wireless Subwoofer
  • IR Remote Control
  • 2 x AAA Batteries (for remote)

Setup

1. Placement

  • Soundbar: Place the soundbar centrally below your television. Ensure it has a clear line of sight for the remote control and is not obstructed.
  • Wireless Subwoofer: Position the subwoofer anywhere in the room, preferably near the front of the room for optimal bass response. Ensure it is within range of the soundbar for wireless connection.

2. Connections

The Command Bar offers multiple connectivity options for your television and other devices.

  • HDMI (ARC): Connect the included HDMI cable from the HDMI (ARC) port on the soundbar to the HDMI ARC port on your television. This allows audio from your TV to be sent to the soundbar and enables control of the soundbar with your TV remote.
  • Optical: If your TV does not have an HDMI ARC port, connect the included optical cable from the Optical In port on the soundbar to the optical digital audio output on your television.
  • Additional HDMI Inputs: Use HDMI Input 1 and HDMI Input 2 on the soundbar to connect external devices such as a Blu-ray player or gaming console.
  • Power: Connect the power cables to the soundbar and the wireless subwoofer, then plug them into a wall outlet.

3. Initial Power On

Once all connections are made, power on the soundbar and subwoofer. The subwoofer should automatically pair with the soundbar. If not, refer to the troubleshooting section for manual pairing instructions.

Operating the Command Bar

Power On/Off

Press the Power button on the remote control or the soundbar to turn the unit on or off.

Input Selection

Use the Source button on the remote control to cycle through available inputs (HDMI 1, HDMI 2, TV ARC/Optical, Bluetooth).

Amazon Alexa Voice Control

The Command Bar has Amazon Alexa built-in, allowing for hands-free control. Simply say "Alexa" followed by your command.

Bluetooth Pairing

To pair a Bluetooth device:

  1. Press the Bluetooth button on the remote or soundbar. The Bluetooth indicator will flash.
  2. On your device, enable Bluetooth and select "Polk Command Bar" from the list of available devices.
  3. Once paired, the indicator will glow solid.

Voice Adjust Technology

The Voice Adjust feature allows you to customize voice levels to reproduce clear, crisp dialogue. Use the Voice Adjust buttons on the remote control to increase or decrease the dialogue clarity.

Maintenance

To ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your Command Bar:

  • Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the surfaces of the soundbar and subwoofer. Avoid using liquid cleaners or solvents.
  • Ventilation: Ensure that the ventilation openings on the soundbar and subwoofer are not blocked.
  • Environment: Keep the unit away from direct sunlight, heat sources, and excessive moisture.

Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your Command Bar, try the following steps:

  • No Power: Check that both the soundbar and subwoofer power cables are securely plugged into a working wall outlet.
  • No Sound: Verify the correct input source is selected. Check all audio cables (HDMI, Optical) are securely connected. Ensure the volume is not muted or set too low.
  • Subwoofer Not Connecting: Ensure the subwoofer is powered on. If it does not automatically pair, refer to the product's full manual for manual pairing instructions (usually involves pressing a pairing button on both units).
  • Alexa Not Responding: Ensure the soundbar is connected to the internet and your Amazon account is linked. Check the microphone is not muted.
  • Remote Control Not Working: Replace the AAA batteries in the remote control. Ensure there is a clear line of sight between the remote and the soundbar.
