2. Key Features

  • Sturdy & Durable Construction: Crafted with a rugged nylon fiber surface and a high-strength Chromium-Molybdenum (Cr-Mo) steel spindle, these pedals offer excellent shock absorption, abrasion resistance, and corrosion protection.
  • Enhanced Grip: Equipped with anti-skid nails on each side, the pedals provide a secure hold for your feet, preventing slippage even in muddy conditions.
  • Wide Platform & Lightweight Design: Featuring a 4.1-inch wide platform and an ultralight design (approximately 0.8 lbs per pair), these ergonomic pedals incorporate high-speed DU bearings for comfortable long rides and improved pedaling efficiency.
  • Easy Installation: Pedals are clearly marked with 'CR-L' for the left pedal and 'CR-R' for the right pedal. Sealed bearings protect the spindles from water and dust, ensuring smooth operation and reducing maintenance.
  • Universal Compatibility: The standard 9/16-inch spindle is compatible with a wide range of bicycles, including BMX, MTB, Mountain Bikes, Hybrid bikes, Cruisers, Cyclocross Bikes, Dirt Jumpers, Folding Bikes, Road Bikes (Touring), Track Bikes, Unicycles, and Urban Bikes (Fixed Gear).

3. Installation Guide

Proper installation ensures optimal performance and safety. Follow these steps to install your ROCKBROS MTB Pedals:

  1. Identify Left and Right Pedals: Locate the markings on the pedal spindles. 'CR-L' indicates the left pedal, and 'CR-R' indicates the right pedal.
  2. Prepare Crank Arms: Ensure the crank arm threads are clean and free of debris. Applying a small amount of grease to the pedal threads is recommended to prevent seizing and facilitate future removal.
  3. Install Right Pedal: Thread the 'CR-R' pedal into the right crank arm (the side with the chainring). Turn clockwise to tighten.
  4. Install Left Pedal: Thread the 'CR-L' pedal into the left crank arm. Note that the left pedal has a reverse thread, so turn counter-clockwise to tighten.
  5. Secure Pedals: Use a 6mm Allen key or an appropriate pedal wrench to firmly tighten both pedals. Do not overtighten, but ensure they are secure to prevent loosening during rides.

4. Operating Instructions

Once installed, your ROCKBROS MTB Pedals are ready for use. These platform pedals are designed to provide a stable and grippy surface for your feet, suitable for various riding styles and terrains.

  • Foot Placement: Position your feet centrally on the pedal platform, ensuring the anti-skid pins engage with the sole of your shoe for maximum grip and control.
  • Pedaling Technique: Utilize a smooth, circular pedaling motion. The wide platform and efficient bearings are designed to support consistent power transfer and reduce fatigue.
  • Adaptability: The robust design is suitable for both casual rides and more aggressive mountain biking, offering stability on varied surfaces including dirt, gravel, and wet conditions.

5. Maintenance

Regular maintenance will extend the lifespan and ensure the continued performance of your pedals.

  • Cleaning: After riding in muddy or dusty conditions, clean the pedals with water and a mild detergent. Ensure all debris is removed from around the pins and spindle area.
  • Inspect Pins: Periodically check the anti-skid pins for wear or damage. Replace any missing or severely worn pins to maintain optimal grip.
  • Check Spindle: Ensure the pedal spindles remain securely tightened to the crank arms. If any looseness is detected, re-tighten using a 6mm Allen key or pedal wrench.
  • Bearing Care: The pedals feature sealed DU bearings designed to be low-maintenance. Avoid disassembling the bearings unless necessary for specialized service.

6. Troubleshooting

  • Pedals feel loose: Check if the pedals are securely tightened to the crank arms. Re-tighten using the appropriate tool. If the issue persists, inspect the crank arm threads for damage.
  • Squeaking or grinding noise: This may indicate an issue with the bearings or insufficient lubrication. Ensure the pedals are clean and properly installed. If the noise continues, professional inspection may be required.
  • Reduced grip: Inspect the anti-skid pins for wear or damage. Replace any worn pins to restore optimal grip. Ensure your footwear is suitable for flat pedals.
