2. Safety Information
Always observe the following safety precautions to prevent injury or damage to the product:
- Ensure power is disconnected before installation, maintenance, or troubleshooting.
- Installation should be performed by qualified personnel familiar with electrical and plumbing systems.
- Verify voltage and current ratings match your power supply to avoid electrical hazards.
- Do not exceed the maximum operating pressure of 10 Bars.
- This valve is designed for specific applications. Do not use it for purposes other than its intended use.
- Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) during installation and maintenance.
3. Product Features
The U.S. Solid 1" Motorized Ball Valve offers the following key features:
- NPT Threading: 1" NSF Certified 304SS threading, manufactured and measured according to National Pipe Thread standards. Full port design.
- Wide Voltage Range: Operates effectively over an 85-265V AC range.
- Fast Operation: Opens or closes the valve in 6-8 seconds.
- Energy Efficient: No power is expended once fully open or fully closed.
- 2-Wire Auto Return Setup: Simple two-wire connection. The valve largely de-energizes after opening and returns to a fully closed position if power is removed.
- Solenoid Valve Alternative: Automatically cuts off power once fully open or fully closed, reducing the likelihood of overheating. Ideal for applications requiring the valve to be open for extended periods.
- Reliable: Designed for a lifespan of 80,000-100,000 cycles.

5. Setup and Installation
5.1 Mechanical Installation
The valve features NPT threading for secure connection to your piping system. Ensure proper sealing during installation.
- Apply Teflon tape to the male pipe threads to ensure a watertight seal.
- Screw the valve firmly into the pipe.
- Ensure the valve is installed in a location that allows for easy access for wiring and future maintenance.

5.2 Electrical Wiring (2-Wire Auto Return)
This U.S. Solid motorized ball valve features a 2-wire auto-return setup. This means the valve will open when power is applied and remain open. When power is removed, the valve will automatically close.
- Connect the two wires from the valve to your power source (85-265V AC).
- A switch can be used to control the power supply to the valve.
- When the circuit is closed (switch is ON), the valve will open and remain open. Power consumption is nominal once open.
- When the circuit is open (switch is OFF or power is lost), the valve will close. Once closed, power consumption is zero.

6. Operation
The operation of the 2-wire auto-return motorized ball valve is straightforward:
- Opening the Valve: Apply power (85-265V AC) to the two wires. The internal motor will rotate the ball to the open position. Once fully open, the power to the motor is cut off, and the valve remains open without continuous power consumption.
- Closing the Valve: Remove power from the two wires. The valve will automatically return to its fully closed position. Once fully closed, the power to the motor is cut off, and the valve remains closed without continuous power consumption.
This "normally closed" behavior (closes when power is removed) is a key safety feature, ensuring the valve defaults to a closed state in case of power failure.
7. Maintenance
To ensure the longevity and reliable performance of your motorized ball valve, consider the following maintenance guidelines:
- Regular Inspection: Periodically inspect the valve for any signs of leaks, corrosion, or physical damage. Check the wiring for secure connections and insulation integrity.
- Cleaning: Keep the exterior of the valve and actuator clean. Avoid using harsh chemicals that could damage the stainless steel or plastic components.
- Operational Check: Occasionally cycle the valve (open and close) to ensure smooth operation.
- Environmental Conditions: Ensure the valve operates within its specified temperature and pressure ranges. Protect it from extreme environmental conditions if not rated for them.
8. Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your motorized ball valve, refer to the following common troubleshooting steps:
- Valve Not Opening/Closing:
- Check the power supply: Ensure the valve is receiving the correct voltage (85-265V AC) and that the power source is active.
- Inspect wiring: Verify all electrical connections are secure and correctly wired according to the 2-wire auto-return diagram (Figure 5, Figure 6).
- Check for obstructions: Ensure there are no physical obstructions preventing the ball from rotating inside the valve.
- Leaking:
- Check pipe connections: Ensure NPT threads are properly sealed with Teflon tape and tightened securely.
- Inspect valve body: Look for any cracks or damage to the stainless steel body.
- Unusual Noise:
- During operation, a slight motor sound is normal. Excessive or grinding noises may indicate an internal issue. Disconnect power and contact support if persistent.
If problems persist after following these steps, please contact U.S. Solid customer support.
