Introduction

The BUNN GRB Velocity Brew 10-Cup Home Coffee Brewer is designed for quick and simple coffee preparation. Featuring a commercial-grade stainless steel hot water tank, this brewer keeps 70 ounces of water consistently hot, allowing for immediate brewing. A full 10-cup carafe can be brewed in approximately three minutes.

Setup

Before first use, follow these steps to prepare your coffee brewer:

1. Placement: Position the coffee brewer on a flat, stable surface near an electrical outlet. Ensure adequate clearance around the unit for ventilation.
2. Initial Fill: Pour fresh, cold water into the top reservoir. This fills the internal hot water tank.
3. Heating: Plug in the brewer and turn on the main power switch (usually located on the side or front). Allow approximately 15 minutes for the water in the internal tank to heat to optimal brewing temperature. The brewer is designed to keep this water hot continuously.
4. First Use Rinse: After the water has heated, brew a full carafe of plain water (without coffee grounds) to rinse the system. Discard this water. Repeat if necessary until any new appliance smell dissipates.

Operating Instructions

The BUNN GRB Velocity Brew is designed for rapid brewing once the initial setup is complete and the internal tank is hot.

1. Prepare Filter Basket: Place a large flat-bottom coffee filter into the brew funnel.
2. Add Coffee Grounds: Add your desired amount of coffee grounds to the filter. The multi-stream sprayhead is designed to evenly shower hot water over the grounds for optimal flavor extraction.
3. Position Carafe: Ensure the empty carafe is placed correctly on the warmer plate beneath the brew funnel.
4. Add Water: Pour fresh, cold water into the top reservoir. The amount of cold water added will displace an equal amount of hot water from the internal tank, initiating the brewing process.
5. Close Lid: Close the top lid of the brewer. Brewing will begin almost immediately.
6. Warmer Plate: The switch-activated warmer plate will keep your brewed coffee at an optimal serving temperature.

Brewing Capacity

• Brews 20 ounces (enough for a travel mug) in approximately 2 minutes.

• Carafe Cleaning: The exclusive drip-free carafe is designed for easy pouring and minimal mess. It is dishwasher safe.
• Brew Funnel and Sprayhead: Periodically remove and clean the brew funnel and sprayhead to prevent mineral buildup and ensure even water distribution. Hand wash is recommended for these components.
• Descaling: To remove mineral deposits, periodically descaling is recommended. Pour additional carafes of fresh, cold water into the brewer as needed until water has no vinegar smell or taste after a descaling cycle.
• Filter Usage: Use large flat bottom filters, which are typically 1/4 inch taller than other filters. This design facilitates quick water flow and prevents overflow of grounds.

Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your coffee brewer, consider the following common solutions:

• Slow Brew or Overflow:
  • Ensure you are using the correct large flat bottom filters.
  • Check if the coffee grind is too fine or if too much coffee is used, which can impede water flow.
  • If using decaf coffee or soft water, a special restrictor-type spray head may be needed to prevent overflow. Contact customer service for assistance.
• Weak Coffee:
  • Verify the correct coffee-to-water ratio.
  • Ensure the sprayhead is clean and distributing water evenly over the grounds.
• No Hot Water:
