Setup

1. Battery Installation

The ONN 4-Device Universal Remote requires 2 AAA batteries (not included).

  1. Locate the battery compartment on the back of the remote.
  2. Slide the battery cover downwards to open.
  3. Insert 2 AAA batteries, ensuring correct polarity (+ and -) as indicated inside the compartment.
  4. Replace the battery cover by sliding it upwards until it clicks into place.

2. Programming Your Remote

There are two primary methods to program your universal remote: Direct Code Entry and Auto Code Search.

Method A: Direct Code Entry

This method uses specific codes for your device brand, typically found in the included code library (not provided in this digital manual, refer to your physical manual or manufacturer's website).

  1. Turn on the device you wish to program (e.g., TV, DVD player).
  2. On the remote, press and hold the SETUP button until the red indicator light turns on.
  3. Press and release the device button you want to program (e.g., TV, DVD, CBL). The red indicator light will blink once and then remain lit.
  4. Enter the 4-digit code for your device brand using the number buttons.
  5. After entering the last digit, the red indicator light will turn off if the code is valid. If the light blinks and stays on, the code is invalid; re-enter the code.
  6. Point the remote at your device and test its functionality (e.g., press POWER, VOLUME UP). If the device responds, programming is complete. If not, try the next code listed for your brand or use the Auto Code Search method.

Method B: Auto Code Search

This method automatically searches for the correct code for your device.

  1. Turn on the device you wish to program.
  2. On the remote, press and hold the SETUP button until the red indicator light turns on.
  3. Press and release the device button you want to program (e.g., TV, DVD, CBL). The red indicator light will blink once and then remain lit.
  4. Point the remote at the device and press the POWER button repeatedly (approximately every 2 seconds) until the device turns off. This indicates the remote has found a compatible code.
  5. Once the device turns off, immediately press the ENTER or OK button to lock in the code. The red indicator light will turn off.
  6. Test the remote's functionality with your device. If it doesn't work correctly, repeat the Auto Code Search process.

Operating Your Remote

Once programmed, your ONN 4-Device Universal Remote can control your selected devices.

Device Selection

To control a specific device, press the corresponding device button at the top of the remote (TV, CBL, SAT, DVD, VCR, AUX). The red indicator light will briefly flash to confirm the selection.

Common Button Functions

  • POWER: Turns the selected device on or off.
  • VOL +/-: Adjusts the volume of the selected device.
  • CH +/-: Changes channels on the selected device.
  • MUTE: Mutes or unmutes the audio.
  • INPUT: Cycles through input sources on your TV.
  • MENU: Accesses the menu of the selected device.
  • OK / ENTER: Confirms selections in menus.
  • Navigation Arrows: Navigate through menus and options.
  • Number Pad (0-9): Direct channel entry.
  • SHIFT: Used for accessing secondary functions of certain buttons (refer to your device's original remote for specific functions).
  • Playback Controls: Play, Pause, Stop, Rewind, Fast Forward, Record (for compatible devices like DVD/VCR/DVR).

Master Volume Control

The master volume feature allows the volume buttons to control the volume of a specific device (e.g., your TV or soundbar) regardless of which device button is currently selected on the remote.

  1. Press and hold the SETUP button until the red indicator light turns on.
  2. Press the MUTE button. The red indicator light will blink.
  3. Press the device button (e.g., TV) for the device you want to control the master volume. The red indicator light will turn off.
  4. Now, the VOL +/- buttons will always control the volume of the selected master device, even if you switch to control your DVD player or cable box.

To disable master volume control, repeat the steps and select the device button that was originally set for master volume, or simply reprogram the remote for that device.

Maintenance

Cleaning

To clean your remote, use a soft, slightly damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents, as they may damage the remote's surface or internal components.

Battery Replacement

Replace batteries when the remote's indicator light does not illuminate or when the remote becomes unresponsive. Always replace both batteries at the same time with new AAA alkaline batteries. Do not mix old and new batteries, or different types of batteries.

Storage

Store the remote in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. If storing for an extended period, remove the batteries to prevent leakage.
