3. Setup
3.1. Physical Connections
- Connect the Handset: Plug one end of the coiled cord into the handset and the other end into the handset port on the telephone base.
- Attach the Stand: Securely attach the telephone stand to the base unit.
- Connect to Network: Plug one end of the Ethernet cable into the LAN port on the back of the telephone and the other end into your network switch or router.
- Power Connection: If your network does not provide Power over Ethernet (PoE), connect an appropriate AC adapter (sold separately) to the power port on the telephone and then to a power outlet.

3.2. Initial Boot-up
Once connected, the telephone will power on and begin its boot-up sequence. The display will show various status messages as it connects to the network and registers with your VoIP system. This process may take a few minutes. Once complete, the display will show the idle screen, indicating it is ready for use.
4. Operating Instructions
4.1. Basic Call Functions
- Making a Call: Lift the handset or press the Speaker button. Dial the desired number using the keypad.
- Answering a Call: Lift the handset or press the flashing line button, or press the Speaker button.
- Ending a Call: Replace the handset or press the Speaker button again if using speakerphone.
- Hold: During an active call, press the Hold button. The line button will flash. To retrieve the call, press the flashing line button.
- Transfer: During an active call, press the Transfer button. Dial the extension or number to transfer to, then press Transfer again to complete (blind transfer) or wait for an answer and announce the call before pressing Transfer (supervised transfer).
4.2. Using Self-Labeling Buttons
The DT700 Series features self-labeling buttons, meaning the function of each button is displayed directly on the screen adjacent to it. These labels change dynamically based on the phone's status (e.g., idle, on a call, in a menu). Press the button next to the desired function displayed on the screen.
4.3. Speakerphone Usage
To use the speakerphone, press the Speaker button. The speakerphone indicator will illuminate. You can then make or receive calls without lifting the handset. To switch back to the handset, simply lift the handset.
4.4. Display Navigation
Use the navigation cluster (up, down, left, right arrows) and the Menu button to navigate through the phone's menus and options. The Exit button typically returns you to the previous screen or the idle display.
