Setup and Installation
Follow these steps to properly install your universal ceiling fan fitter.
- Turn Off Power: Before starting any electrical work, ensure the power supply to the ceiling fan is completely disconnected at the main circuit breaker or fuse box. Verify the power is off by attempting to operate the fan or existing light.
- Prepare Fan: If an existing light kit is present, carefully remove it. Disconnect any wiring and unscrew the old light kit from the fan housing.
- Identify Wiring: Locate the electrical wires from the ceiling fan intended for the light kit. Typically, these include a hot wire (often black or blue), a neutral wire (white), and a ground wire (green or bare copper).
- Attach Fitter: Align the mounting holes on the Craftmade F300-W-LED fitter with the corresponding holes on the bottom of your ceiling fan motor housing. Secure the fitter using the provided mounting screws. Ensure the fitter is firmly attached and does not wobble.
- Make Electrical Connections:
- Connect the white (neutral) wire from the fitter to the white (neutral) wire from the fan using a wire connector.
- Connect the black (hot) wire from the fitter to the hot wire (often black or blue) from the fan using a wire connector.
- Connect the green or bare copper (ground) wire from the fitter to the ground wire from the fan (or the fan's mounting bracket) using a wire connector.
- Install Bulbs: Screw the three included LED bulbs into the sockets on the fitter. Do not overtighten.
- Install Glass Shades (Optional): If using compatible glass shades (not included), carefully place them over the bulb sockets and secure them using the fitter screws. Ensure they are securely fastened.
- Restore Power: Once installation is complete and all connections are secure, restore power at the circuit breaker or fuse box.
Operating Instructions
The Craftmade F300-W-LED light fitter operates in conjunction with your ceiling fan's existing controls. This typically involves a pull chain on the fan itself or a wall switch connected to the fan's light circuit.
- Pull Chain Operation: If your ceiling fan has a pull chain for the light, gently pull the chain to turn the light on or off.
- Wall Switch Operation: If your ceiling fan's light is controlled by a wall switch, use the wall switch to turn the light on or off.
Note: This light fitter is not designed for dimming unless used with dimmable LED bulbs and a compatible dimmer switch. The included bulbs are not specified as dimmable.
Maintenance
Regular maintenance will ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your light fitter.
- Cleaning: To clean the light fitter, first ensure the power is off. Use a soft, dry cloth to wipe down the exterior. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents, as these may damage the finish.
- Bulb Replacement: Ensure power is off before replacing bulbs. Allow bulbs to cool completely before handling. Replace with standard base (E26) LED bulbs, not exceeding 13 watts per bulb.

If you experience issues with your light fitter, refer to the following common problems and solutions:
