What's in the Box

Carefully unpack all components and ensure the following items are present:

  • Turntable Platter
  • OM Black pick-up system (by Ortofon)
  • Headshell
  • Slipmat
  • Counterweight
  • Power Cord
  • Instruction Manual (this document)

Setup

Follow these steps to set up your RP-4000 MK2 turntable:

  1. Placement: Place the turntable on a stable, level surface away from direct sunlight, heat sources, and excessive vibration. Ensure adequate ventilation.
  2. Platter Installation: Carefully place the turntable platter onto the center spindle. Ensure it sits flush and rotates freely.
  3. Slipmat Placement: Place the included slipmat on top of the platter.
  4. Headshell and Cartridge Attachment: Attach the OM Black pick-up system (pre-mounted on the headshell) to the S-shaped tonearm. Secure it by rotating the locking ring clockwise.
  5. Counterweight Adjustment: Slide the counterweight onto the rear of the tonearm. Rotate it until the tonearm is balanced horizontally (floating freely). Then, set the tracking force according to the cartridge manufacturer's specifications (typically 2-4 grams for DJ cartridges).
  6. Anti-Skating Adjustment: Adjust the anti-skating dial to match the tracking force. This prevents the stylus from skipping inwards.
  7. Connections:
    • Connect the RCA audio cables from the turntable to the PHONO input of your mixer or amplifier. Note: This turntable does not have a built-in pre-amplifier. A PHONO input or an external pre-amplifier is required.
    • Connect the ground wire from the turntable to the ground terminal on your mixer or amplifier to minimize hum.
    • Connect the power cord to the turntable and then to a suitable power outlet.
