3. Setup

3.1 Connecting the Drive

The Seagate Portable Drive is designed for plug-and-play simplicity. No software installation is required for basic functionality.

1. Locate the USB 3.0 cable included with your drive.
2. Connect the smaller end of the USB 3.0 cable to the port on the Seagate Portable Drive.
3. Connect the larger end of the USB 3.0 cable to an available USB 3.0 port on your computer (PC or Mac). For optimal performance, use a USB 3.0 port. The drive is also compatible with USB 2.0 ports, but data transfer speeds will be slower.

3.2 Initializing and Formatting (Optional)

The drive comes pre-formatted for immediate use with both Windows and Mac systems. Reformatting is generally not necessary unless you wish to change the file system or resolve specific issues. If reformatting is required, please refer to your operating system's documentation for instructions on using Disk Management (Windows) or Disk Utility (Mac).

4. Operating the Drive

4.1 Transferring Files

To transfer files to or from your Seagate Portable Drive, simply drag and drop files or folders between your computer's storage and the drive's icon in your file explorer (Windows) or Finder (Mac).

• Mac: Drag the drive icon from your desktop to the Trash, or click the Eject button next to the drive name in a Finder window. Wait for the drive icon to disappear before disconnecting.
