Atlantic Maxsteel 12 Tier Shelving Instruction Manual

Model: 38408071

Introduction

The Atlantic Maxsteel 12 Tier Shelving unit is designed for organizing and displaying various media collections and other items. Its contemporary style and durable heavy gauge steel wire construction ensure stability and longevity. This manual provides detailed instructions for assembly, usage, maintenance, and troubleshooting to ensure optimal performance and safety.

Safety Information

  • Properly install the included wall anchors for added stability. This is crucial to prevent tipping, especially with a tall, narrow unit.
  • Always load heavier and larger items on the lower half of the shelves and gradually work your way up. This helps maintain the unit's center of gravity and stability.
  • Ensure the unit is placed on a level surface. Use the adjustable feet to compensate for uneven flooring.
  • Keep small children and pets away from the unit during assembly to prevent accidents.
  • Do not overload shelves beyond their intended capacity.

Package Contents

Before beginning assembly, verify that all components are present. The package should contain:

  • Steel Wire Shelves (12 units)
  • Vertical Support Rods (multiple sections to form 4 tall rods)
  • Shelf Dividers
  • Adjustable Leveling Feet
  • Plastic Shelf Stoppers/Clips
  • Wall Anchoring Hardware
  • Assembly Hardware

Setup and Assembly

Assembly typically requires one person, but a second person can assist with initial setup. No special tools are required.

Step 1: Prepare the Base Rods and Feet

Locate the four bottom vertical support rods. These rods have threaded holes at one end. Screw the adjustable leveling feet into these threaded holes. Ensure the feet are securely attached but leave them slightly extended for later adjustment.

Step 2: Attach Shelf Stoppers

Each shelf is supported by four plastic shelf stoppers (clips) that snap onto the vertical rods. Identify the desired height for your first shelf. Snap two halves of a stopper together around each of the four vertical rods at the same height. Ensure they are firmly clicked into place. The rods have grooves to guide placement.

Step 3: Install the First Shelf

Carefully slide the first wire shelf down over the four vertical rods until it rests firmly on the installed shelf stoppers. Ensure all four corners of the shelf are evenly seated on their respective stoppers. It is recommended to start with the bottom shelf to create a stable base.

Step 4: Continue Installing Shelves

Repeat Step 2 and Step 3 for the remaining shelves. You can adjust the spacing between shelves in 1-inch increments to accommodate different media sizes (CDs, DVDs, Blu-rays, games, etc.). For optimal stability, ensure the shelf stoppers are at the same height on all four rods for each shelf.

Step 5: Assemble Upper Rod Sections (if applicable)

If your unit includes multiple rod sections, connect the upper rod sections to the lower ones by screwing them together. Then, continue installing the remaining shelves as described in Step 4.

Step 6: Level the Unit and Install Wall Anchors

Once all shelves are installed, stand the unit upright. Adjust the leveling feet by turning them clockwise or counter-clockwise until the unit is stable and does not wobble. For enhanced safety and stability, especially with a tall unit, use the provided wall anchoring hardware to secure the shelving unit to a wall. Follow the instructions included with the wall anchors for proper installation.

Maintenance

To ensure the longevity and appearance of your Atlantic Maxsteel shelving unit, follow these maintenance guidelines:

  • Cleaning: Wipe down the steel wire shelves and rods with a soft, damp cloth. Avoid abrasive cleaners or harsh chemicals, which can damage the gunmetal finish.
  • Inspection: Periodically check all connections, especially the shelf stoppers and wall anchors, to ensure they remain secure. Tighten any loose components.
  • Leveling: Re-check the leveling feet occasionally to ensure the unit remains stable, especially if moved or if the floor settles.
  • Weight Distribution: Continue to distribute weight evenly across shelves, placing heavier items on lower shelves.
