5. Setup

5.1 Battery Installation

The SKYTECH ST-194D is battery-powered. To install batteries:

1. Locate the battery compartment cover on the back or side of the radio.
2. Slide or unclip the cover to open the compartment.
3. Insert the required batteries (e.g., AA or AAA, check compartment for type) according to the polarity indicators (+ and -).
4. Close the battery compartment cover securely.

6. Operating Instructions

6.1 Powering On/Off

• To power on the radio, ensure batteries are installed and slide the AM ON or FM ON switch to the 'ON' position.
• To power off the radio, press the OFF button.

6.2 Tuning the Radio (FM Band)

The SKYTECH ST-194D supports FM radio reception.

1. Extend the telescopic antenna for optimal reception.
2. Slide the FM ON switch to the 'ON' position.

6.3 Setting the Time

1. Press and hold the TIME SET button until the hour display starts flashing.
2. Press the HOUR button to adjust the hour.
3. Press the TIME SET button again, and the minute display will flash.
4. Press the MIN button to adjust the minute.
5. Press TIME SET once more to confirm and exit time setting mode.

6.4 Setting the Alarm

1. Press and hold the AL SET button until the alarm hour display starts flashing.
2. Press the HOUR button to adjust the alarm hour.
3. Press the AL SET button again, and the alarm minute display will flash.
4. Press the MIN button to adjust the alarm minute.
5. Press AL SET once more to confirm and exit alarm setting mode.
6. To activate or deactivate the alarm, press the AL ON/OFF button. An alarm icon will typically appear on the display when the alarm is active.

6.5 DX.LOCAL Switch

The DX.LOCAL switch helps optimize reception:

• Set to LOCAL for strong, nearby radio stations. This setting helps reduce interference from distant signals.
• Set to DX (Distant) for weaker, far-away radio stations. This setting increases sensitivity to pick up fainter signals.
